On tap at Belmont Station. Naturally, with a name like this, who could resist?
The beer pours a golden hue with hints of peachy orange. Head retention is pretty good and there's plenty of sticky lacing. On the nose I get a considerable amount of pine, with some light dry citrus and pepper as well. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, but with a bitter, malty sweet, alcoholic finish. This beer sort of reminds me a lighter version of Maharaja. Also, while there's enough bitterness to dry out the sweetness in the finish, this beer still has more sweet malt than I generally like to see in a NW/West Coast DIPA. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a piney, bitter, boozy finish.
An OK DIPA, but not good enough to get me to switch over from Blue Dot any time soon.

big thanks to Rathakem for hooking up the PNW love. enjoyed from my block 15 snifter ;^)
a - brew pours a murky semi transparent orange with tons of lively carbonation bubbles that dance throughout. the brew poured with a thin bubbly head that bubbled away leaving just a ring of bubbling along the edge of the glass with some spotty bubbly islands on the surface.
s - yum. soft sweet grapefruit. the ginger is fairly prominent in the nose as well. some lemon.
t - wow, that's interesting and different. a quick splash of ginger and grapefruit and then an all out assault from dank bittering west coast hops. finishes with a boozy tingle in my mouth. the mix of herbs really is an odd bird and doesn't really work for me. also seems bitter just for the sake of being bitter. if it wasn't such an assault of bittering hops, there might be something there, but the base doesn't really work and then drowning it in bitteness doesn't make things any better. not really impressed.
m - the ABV definitely tickles my mouth. i am surprised that this is as thin as it is being such a big beer, but the ginger seems to really tame everything.
o - overall, this is an attempt at the fierce iipa and in that category are some of the real titans of beer. i would say that although there is a unique twist on this beer with the herbs it ends up having an identity crisis and is really just a mess. once i get used to the bitterness it becomes more drinkable, but still nothing impressive. i'd pass on this one if you have the chance. save your ABVs.

A gift from my friend Kevin, who moved to Oregon a while back. Thanks!
Pours a cloudy orange with a foamy white head. Beautiful.
Earthy hop aroma. As the label says: dank.
It's got that classic West Coast flavor: Dry and very herbal. It's almost like rolling a hop pellet around in my mouth. No citrus hop flavors here, unless you are reminded of eating bitter orange peel.
Nice and chewy body.
Overall a fine West Coast double IPA. My tastes tend more to the sweeter double IPAs.
