On tap at The Beer Mongers PDX 2nd Anniversary, 9.10.11. Had a hard time classifying this, could either be a Porter, but decided due to flavor profile to place in the Wild category.
Dark brown opaque body with some garnet highlights, no visible carbonation even when held up to light. One finger off white head, quick dissipation with minimal lacing retained. Healthy dose of tart raspberries in the nose, some faint chocolate notes that are really subsumed by the fruit, floral hops well hidden. Taste mirrors nose, didn't pick up much Porter characteristics, which frankly I wasn't looking for. The tartness of the berries and the acidity from the bacteria made for an interesting beer, though the contrast with the base beer muddled things a bit. Mouthfeel a bit on the heavy side for a sour/wild, decent effervescence. Not sure the porter was the right base beer for this experiment, though I'd certainly like to see the brewer try this again. Tasty.
