22 oz bottle from Roths Sunnyside Market. Aka Rough Cut IPA $3.99 Darker than usual body for an IPA this time amber head is large thick and frothy and a creme colour. Fine fresh floral/grassy hop aroma but the malts are also in the noce (caramel). Taste is somewhat the same as the aroma with the hops being balanced by the maltiness.. A little thin maybe on the mouthfeel though. A good IPA high malt content..which i prefer

22oz bottle into Block 15 snifter. Thanks to bbb099 for this one.
A: Pours a deep amber with a couple fingers of fuzzy off-white head that slowly faded into a thick film and collar. Patches of soapy lace were left down the glass.
S: I get huge fresh notes of hoppy fruit nectars and citrusy grapefruit. There are a few notes of bread crust and pale malts.
T: Clean notes of bready hops blend well with citrus hops and a touch of pine resin. The finish is full of grapefruit, and the aftertaste is lightly bitter yet sweet. Hops are fresh and fruity all around.
M: Medium-full body, clean mouthfeel, a bit viscous and resinous, with soft carbonation. Smooth and easy.
O: A very solid and flavorful IPA. I would drink this often. Definitely above average and recommended.

Appearance: Pours into glass with a nice head that has good light color, with nice retention that stays the on top the entire time. Very light golden color, slightly hazy, with a little bit of amber tones.
Smell: You can definitely pick up on the pine and grassy notes to this one. Not an overpowering sense, but definitely there. Only a light citrus note.
Taste: This IPA is definitely a good example of a pale ale with tons of hops. The malts are there, but almost as an afterthought to the hops. This would most certainly be a lighter summer time offering for the true hop head out there. The piney bitterness comes on at the end, lending an aftertaste that lingers on. Nice complexities on the hops, just needs a little bit of a backbone to stand against.
Mouthfeel: NIce medium bodied mouthfeel, thanks to lots of carbonation. This creates a nice feeling that would probably be absent with the lighter bodied malts. Nice job on this, but would prefer the malts to carbonation.
Overall: I am personally not attracted to the hops that they used (the pine sense is a little much for me), but this is a very descent beer. Good for those that like the strong aroma and taste of these particular hops (a slight hint of grapefruit covered by grass and pine nut), and also want something that is refreshing and light. Thank you for this offering from Flat Tail. Another good showing.

My friend Kevin sent me two Flat Tail bottles. Thanks!
Pours a medium gold in color with a nice quarter-inch head. Beautiful.
Aroma is all about the hops: Citrus, herbs, grass, etc. Very nice.
Pine-like hop flavors dominate. Almost metallic in flavor. Bitter, but with a bit of bready, malt sweetness. No surprise, this is a very west coast-flavored IPA.
Body is good.
Overall a very nice IPA.
