A 330ml green glass bottle with a BB of March 2013. ABV is stated as 5.2%. Picked up from a supermarket some time ago. Described as extra blonde; bottles of Vedett always feature strange artwork of the rear label (in this case a photo of a cigarette vending machine that now sells art).

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A pale golden colour with faint haze and good carbonation. Yields a large head of fluffy white foam that hangs around for a few minutes before reducing to a thick surface layer. Aroma of light malt with hints of stewed hops, faint grain, and a mildly sulphurous harshness in the background.

Tastes of light malt with a dry, bitter finish. Notes of stewed leaves, grain husks, very faint overcooked veg and a background harshness. A crisp, distinguished bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is light, dry and tingly, with prickly carbonation and good body for the style. Somewhat astringent, with an aftertaste of acrid stewed leaves.

Rather lacklustre. This has the makings of a decent lager; it looks good and overall its character is quite clean. However, the aroma and flavour are spoiled by a pervasive harshness that negates the beer's better qualities. In the end, it's just another run-of-the-mill lager with little to set it apart from the competition. No need to seek it out.

Had an ice-cold bottle at Cafe Bizarre in Retie, BE. Served in a Vedett flute, it appears a brilliant light gold with bubbles shooting up the length of the glass. I have to say this is a masterful interpretation of the style. It's clean and refreshing, with a little bit of bready malt flavor. Of course, that means that while this makes for a great lawn mower beer, it's a very low-flavor beer.

I love this pilsner, it’s a great achievement for the brewery. Much better than their regular pilsner, the Bel-pils. It has an incredibly cool retro logo. And it is a beer that really appeals to young people. It is also commercialised this way. If you go to the website www.vedett.com, you will see that it is filled with a lot of crazy nonsense. Like the picture on the back of the bottle. I have noticed that the beer is also a stepstone for later duvel drinkers.

The beer has a lovely strong sweet hop odour. I served it in a large pilsner glass. It has a very clear golden yellow colour. When it poured out, it gave a huge magnificent fluffy white head. It diminishes as you go. But it leaves a complex lace structure on the glass.
When it is poured in, the carbonation shows a tremendous vividness. When in rest, it’s bubbling calmly.
The taste is refreshingly bitter hop like with some alcohol and slight traces of malts and grains.
The aftertaste is dry, with the same elements as the initial taste and some sugar traces at the end.

Great beer, one of my favourites.

Ut Vivat, Crescat, Floreat!

This beer pours a nice, perfectly clear gold with a small white head that disappears quickly. Lacing is actually good.

Smells of hops, pils malt, and that's it really. Taste is much the same, though the hops are more forward. Tinges of a metallic taste are present. No strong flavors at all.

Mouthfeel is actually very good for this style. Relatively thick and good carbonation make it pretty decent.

Overall, it's unoffensive and drinkable, but nothing really impressive.

33cL green bottle. Brew date: June 15, 2011; best by June 15, 2012. 5% ABV, 11.6 deg. Plato.

Appearance: Very pale gold color. Crystal clear. Poured with one finger of soapy foam. Head had decent retention, leaving plenty of fluffy lacing.

Smell: Typical mass market lager smell; sweet with no real hops character. Grassy, bready.

Taste: More metallic than bitter, right up front. Almost no grain contribution. This is a one-note beer.

Mouthfeel: Light in body. Very dry finish. Adequate carbonation. Mild bitterness in the aftertaste.

Overall: Will quench a thirst, but not a lot of flavor. Pretty ordinary, in my opinion. I'll look elsewhere next time.

I'm not a fan of lagers, but I'll review this anyway.

Poured into a regular pilsner glass, it shows and breathes pilsner/lager.
A lot of big floaty bits in my glass worried me a bit: there are just lumps of sediment in this. Why?

Taste is very soapy. Maybe the hops are ok, but I'm not going to sample this further, because of that.

Green 33cl dumpie bottle, bought at Tanner's in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. Best before 09-2007, drank 04-2007.

Poured into a Duvel glass it looked like a lighter version of it's brother, same large white head, but a much paler body. It is after all, a pale lager.

What aroma? A hint of wheat, if I am being kind.

Where have they hidden the 5.2%? It is a pleasant refeshing taste, but no alcohol could I detect. Disappointed really, not even a pilsner flavour, more Kolsch and light.

Because the taste is so weak, the mouthfeel is also poor in my opinion.

I was expecting a lot better from this beer (I am a shareholder of the brewery), I won't be buying it again.

I drank this at a food festival in Belgium, on tap after a glass of wine and some raclette at one of the tents at the festival. It has a good color, and came with a strong head, but I noticed the glass was designed (Vedett glass) that I still got my 33cl even with the good head. Lemony flavor, and felt good in the mouth. I had two, the "whitest" beer I had drank in a while, it was very nice.

Green stubby bottle of 330 ml, at home. Poured into a lager glass. ABV is 5,2%.
Pours a very clean and pale yellow colour, with two fingers of semi-frothy/semi-soapy head, with very good retention. Foam leaves quite a lace.Lively carbonation in the glass.
Aroma is grass and malts.
Crisp taste, mostly malty and grainy. Nothing too spectalurar. Short bitter finish.
Very thin body and quite high carboantion. Little dryness on the palate.

I guess it would make a difference if it was a really hot day out, this beer is quite refreshing, and highly drinkable in all its mediocrity, and maybe it would have scored a grade or two more, but unfortunately it's not.
