330ml bottle poured into a Delirium Tremens chalice - BBE August 2015

Look: Pale straw colour with more head than a particularly heady thing. Seriously, there was so much foam at the top of the glass it looked like an ice cream.

Smell:Not much, really - whiffs of hops and citrus but that's about it. Maybe the head was getting in the way ...

Taste: Distinctly 'meh' - I'd call this a Belgian take on a classic Pilsner. There's hops in there, for sure, with a little bit of zing from the carbonation but really nothing to write home about.

Feel: Again, it drinks like a Pilsner - when you consider the sheer number of beer varieties that exist in Belgium you can't help feeling that this is a bit, well, insipid. Light, fizzy and ultimately somewhat forgettable.

Overall: Easy to drink but ultimately the wrong side of mediocre - I could imagine throwing a few of these back after a hot, summer bike ride but at the same time I'd not go out of my way to track it down. Interesting product from Duvel, but ultimately disappointing - leave the Pilsner-style beers to the Czechs and Germans, they do it much better.

Mediocre, a lager without much taste. Though, nothing wrong with it either.

This is a great looking beer. Soft, hazy pale yellow, magnificent lacing -- some of the best I've seen.

Very soft to drink, dry on the palate, gentle lemon citrus. Yeast and wheat. Thin bodied, a little spritz from carbonation. Interesting overall, quite subdued in character. Easy drinking, suitable summer time quaff, but not overly exciting or memorable beyond its look.

Worth a try at least.

Vedett lager pours with good head and great carbonation. Phenomenol head retention for a lager – what you would expect from Duvel!
The aroma is like a german pilser. Herbal hops with a certain mint character are present.

This Belgian lager has a german pils taste. Delicate grassy hops, sweet malt ... touch of bitterness at finish. Maybe the sweeter end of the German pils flavour spectrum.

Overall, a great pilsner. Up there with Bitburger, Radeburger, Veltins etc. Just a bit on the sweet side perhaps but nice for a contrast with more bitter German pils.

I had this in a can in Belgium purchased from a cooler at a mini-market, enjoyed chilled in a cup.

The color is golden straw with light hazed thick white head crowns with fine bead and spots of lace stick. The smell is light spice of belgian yeast with mild malt with light sweet odor and faint fruit and honey accent which is pleasant.
The feel is thinnish with moderate carbonation level and light bitterness with mild sweetness and gentle spiced tinge with crisp dry finish -enjoyable texture.

The flavor is good with slight malt up front followed by spice flavor from yeast and gentle peppery hop quality with a slight honey tinge of malt with mild herbal element accenting the pils malt base with a nice dry yet light finish. Overall a very enjoyable blond, not great but well made and flavorful.
