DISCLAIMER: I am a big tripel fan. Love em!
Apparently I got a bottle with the new label cuz mine is much different than the one pictured here. I'd take a pic but I can never seem to get the dimensions to the acceptable level.
Poured into a wide-mouthed stemless wine glass this beer was a very nice golden color with a good bit of cloudiness from the yeast. Looks much like a hefeweizen.
In the glass it has a HUGE pillowy, white head which subsides to lacing all over the place. Nice.
The smell is much like any other tripel I've had--nothing out of the ordinary, but still pleasant.
First taste...mmm, bliss. The Maredsous Tripel is very smooth and sweet. It is not overly sweet, hoppy, or yeasty. Instead it does great balancing of all the appropriate qualities of a tripel, including the higher alcohol content (10% in this case).
This is a very delicious and enjoyable tripel--certainly one of the best balanced ones I've ever had. If you love tripels this one won't disappoint you!
