11.2oz brown glass squat pry-top bottle. BB 04.2011 on back label. Thanks to our new Duvel rep., Tori, for this one.
Appearance: Started to flow over when I opened it, poured a sudsy orange-amber with 1.5 fingers of sudsy light cream head. Not quite clear.
Nose: Caramel and light milk chocolate are the first things to mind. Dried apricots, dried pineapple, and maybe a hint of black olives.
Palate: Lively and almost crisp with acidity. Very "bright." Hints of chocolate covered cherries (cordials), a moist tobacco note, plus that dried pineapple (covered in light milk chocolate) comes back. Papaya too, perhaps, without the chocolate.
Notes: A tasty tripel, but not my favorite. It manages to avoid feeling too sweet by having a little acidity to clean up the edges. Impressed with whole "milk chocolate" thing from such a pale beer. Well done.
