Presentation: 11.2 oz stubby brown bottle, “best before end” date on the back label. States that it is top fermented and refermented in the bottle.
Appearance: Hazed sunset orange colour. Effervescent carbonation flows quickly to the top of the glass which help hold together the off white lace which leaves sporadic rings down the glass.
Smell: Dry grainy and soft nutty yeast aroma. Dehydrated orange, pineapple and peach smell from the fruity nose within the dryness.
Taste: Medium body with a viscous mouth feel from the carbonation and the sheer texture that brings a flexed smoothness to the mouth. Obvious bitter flavours from the yeast, hops and grain. Alcohol enhances all of that and then some, dryness does not help either. Clusters of flavours hit at once with a nutty yeast, dry veggie hop, husk astringent grain and a peppery alcohol. Phenols are there and are quite strong but not overwhelming, slight medicinal flavour abound. After taste is astringent and close to being harsh.
Notes: A bold but boisterous triple that is over the top in some aspects, astringencies bring this brew down. Other than that is it not a beer not to shy from, give it a try in regards to the many other great triples out there. Put this one up against a hearty meal rather than drinking it alone.

Poured from a stubby 11.2 oz. bottle into a Duvel tulip. Freshness date two years out. Slight white head with decent lacing. Amber color that does not look like a Tripel.
Very subdued aroma. Smells kind of like Duvel which is certainly not a bad thing but not really like a Tripel. No yeasty chalkiness that I look for in a Tripel. Again subdued, not the typical Tripel aroma that I like.
If I didn't know that this was a Tripel I wouldn't know it from the taste. It tastes like a variation of Duvel. Again, not a bad thing. No real fruity yeastiness of a Tripel. Really nice taste but not a Tripel. The alcohol is very well hidden.
Mouthfeel is all Duvel. Crisp, very little aftertaste and very Duvel like. Nice but not the smoothness that you sometimes get from a Tripel.
Overall a really good beer and the 10% abv doesn't hurt. I wouldn't know it was a Tripel in a blind taste test but a really good beer. My high ratings are because it is a really good beer not a good Tripel.

Just arrived in Juneau this past week.
Into a chalice.
A: nice looking hazy sort of brown almost orange colored body with a decent half fingered white foamy head that dissipates within about a minute, lacing is sparse but light and speckles here and there
S: oh boy, this is absolutely awesome - that typical "iced apples" smell I always get from a Tripel with some pears coming in nice and sweet and yet there's a nice spicy tone that kicks in to just give it the right balance
T: nice spicy yet sweet "iced apple" flavoring that just makes me feel really good, wow, yeah this is great stuff; slight "iced apple" aftertaste but not too much just right; the finish is quick and somewhat dry with a light apple-ish sort of-ness (if that makes sense)
M: light to medium, hmmmm....this could be somewhat sessionable, hmmm....I wonder if I could put this with that pepper steak I had this afternoon, hmmmm.... damn I there's a part of me that wishes I had more pepper steak to put this up with, the carbonation - hmmm....well not bad, hey, not too harsh and not too smooth, just a good carbonation for a Tripel
O: in my opinion, this is a very good Tripel, I can't believe I only discovered this as it arrived here in Juneau this past week, whoah, what the f. Solid, yes, more than Solid, seek and you will find a stellar Tripel! Do you like that Allagash stuff? This will blow that away.
