This one goes into my beloved Tripel Karmilet glass -- and behold! A huge white 4 finger head that is all at once fluffy, meringue-like, sea-foamy, and soapy! The ale is cloudy, orange-amber, and the head settles around the edges of the goblet leaving an island of rocky white foam. Over about 10 minutes it subsides to a more manageable 2 centimeters, leaving generous sticky lacing.
For smell, see the next paragraph. It's pretty much the same list. Impressive.
Maredsous 10 is a classic tripel, boasting sour green apples, light malt, honey, clove, black pepper, fresh grass, tart apple vinegar, and a sour yeast flavor to round things off. Actually a taste of iron in here, which is surprising.
The creamy, velvety mouthfeel is a delight. No harshness from prickly carbonation or alcohol bite. Warms the back of my throat, and finishes dry and sour. The alcohol is well-hidden, but you can tell it's there nevertheless.
Maredsous 10 is a smooth, easy drinking tripel and a well balanced one at that. The spice, esters and sweetness are rolled up very nicely. A good intro to the complexities of the style. I love tripels!

Poured from a stubby brown bottle into my Chimay goblet. Slightly hazy amber color with a big white bubbly head. Decent retention for a Tripel and some random bands of lacing on the glass.
Aromas is fairly good. Light fruit (apples and pears), some banana and a little black pepper.
Flavor is more of the same, a bit lacking in Belgian yeast but still tasty and light with a little honey prominent in the taste as well as the other ingredients.
Mouthfeel is rich and smooth. No hint of the 10% abv. Goes down very easy, with the honey and sweetness as mart of the mix.
A good, but not great Tripel.
