The brown colored, corked and caged bomber, with the gold neck foil, and the special edition informative booklet tied to the neck, made for an attractive presentation. While the external packaging was markedly different, the beer itself looked almost exactly like the regular Duvel; with a pale, golden amber body; a large head, sticking above the rim of the Duvel tulip glass; and steady streams of carbonation in the liquid below; in other words, perfect as usual. The smell was a bit more like a Saison than normal Duvel, with a spicy, funky edge to it. The experience of the smell carried forth into the taste, and I could detect white peppercorns, orange peel, coriander, and lemon zest. The body was airy and light as usual, and the lively carbonation made the beer feel extra creamy. This is pretty much the same Duvel we all love, but with an extra kick given by the hops. The dry hopping adds to the experience, but the underlying original character still shines through.

A: Clear yellow with enormous head. High effervescence. No floaties.

S: The most intense, most distilled pine, resin, evergreen character i have ever gotten from a brew. Kind of overwhelms everything else, but being so organic and complex it hardly feels lacking.

T: Follows up on the nose with rich, beautiful and extremely evocative pine forest aromatics.

M: Medium low bitterness. Full bodied. Medium high carbonation. Finishes sweetish with a clove like aftertaste.

Overall: Such a treat of a beer. Unique profile and interpretation of the style.

Poured from 12 oz 2014 bottle,
A- Pale yellow, bright white 2 finger head, not much lacing

S-white grapes, grass, wheat malt

T-dry white wine, belgium style wheat malt, complex hops profile, detect the tangy/funky sorachi
I like the hoppines, its the right balance

M- medium, effervecent carbonation

O- its between brooklyn brewery local one and this as my favorite belgium wheat ale
Easy to drink, really complex and really tasty, if it was cheaper i would get this regularly

Poured from a stubby 11.2 oz bottle into my Chimay goblet. Features a big delicately bubbly white head that actually looks like thick froth because of the carbonation and excellent head retention. Has some frothy streaks of lacing on the glass. A good looking beer.

VEry good aroma as well, Kind of like a Belgian Strong Pale Ale with hops added. Starts of fwith some pale fruit...apples and pears, then the Mosaic hops kick in and the bitterness and tangerine/citrus aromas take over.

Taste is more of the same, starts out like a Belgian Strong Pale Ale with the yeast and light fruit, then the Mosaic hos.citrus flavor kick s in. The overall flavors appear light on the tongue with little to no alcohol bite.

Mouthfeel is light and smooth. No noticeable alcohol presents, Nice level of carbonation.

This is an outstanding brew. The addition of heavy duty hops in no way diminishes the "Belgian" characteristics of the beer. Very nicely done/

Color- clear light gold. Huge head with annoying meringue thickness.

Aroma- sharp hoppiness with evergreen notes.

Taste- Starts mild with Belgian spiced grape notes then turns dry and hoppy with a lingering clean hoppy finish. This is a Belgian for hop heads!

Poured from a corked 750 ml bottle into a Liefmans Goudenband glass (my preferred all purpose beer tasting glass). Tasted Jan. 2013.
