Nearly 150 years of brewing experience, tradition and innovation come together to create this exceptional golden ale. Brewed in Belgium with two-row summer malts and noble hops, then dry hopped with Citra, Duvel Single Fermented is crisp, beautifully balanced and remarkably refreshing.

I had this on tap at Monks, it was served in a Duvel Green tulip. It is a pale, straw color with a very sticky 3 finger white head. The only scent I could detect was some spiciness, cloves?. The flavor was thin and disapointing. My wife thought it tasted like Miller Lite. There were hints of spiciness, but honestly it was bland. It is light in body and highly carbonated. I would avoid this one, IMO it is an overated brew.

Poured from a can. Straw in color with a small head and some lacing. Smells of honey, yeast, and biscuit. Flavor follows the smell with grains and honey in the forefront, also hints of lemon and an earthy spice. Enjoyable and doesn't seem like it's almost 7 percent.

This one pours a clear golden yellow color. Thin one or two finger head forms on the beer, lingers a bit, but ultimately dissipates completely. The aroma is very subdued with light notes of pilsner malt, some orange and lemon zest, some yeast notes.

Taste has notes of yeast, pilsner malt, some citrus and lemon zest, noticeable hop notes and pepper and coriander on the finish. Feel is light, crisp, and easy drinking. Bright, lively carbonation.

Overall this is a very nice beer.

This is from a 1 pint can.
From the bottom of the can: "L032422 15:48 24MAR2023G"

Appearance: The body is a medium gold color with good clarity. It has a medium-sized white head that is fluffy with large bubbles that create a wide cobweb appearance making the head appear large but thin. It doesn't retain the head very long, and it fades rather quickly to a thin film with a small ring around the surface of the beer. It leaves a film of lacing on the glass.

Aroma: Not picking up much of an aroma at all. There is a very light hint of clove that is barely there. Unimpressive.

Taste: Up front there is a light earthy flavor which becomes much stronger towards the middle of the palate. Towards the center it also picks up a strong bay leaf flavor mixed with burnt herbs. Some noticeable alcohol comes through during the first sip but it is quickly eclipsed by the herbal notes. The alcohol only resurfaces again from time to time to be driven out once more by the strong herbal notes. There is a mint note that follows. A touch of a skunky flavor in the middle which also only pops up from time to time making it difficult to pinpoint where it creeps in on the palate. Clove presents itself on the center of the palate which becomes stronger with subsequent sips. The clove lingers a bit in the aftertaste but mostly it is strong burnt cooking herb flavor. The glass was not large enough to hold the entire pint of beer, and the pour towards the bottom of the can delivered a bit of bubblegum.

Mouthfeel: The beer feels medium-light when it first hits the palate, but it finishes in a much lighter state. Carbonation is high. Bitterness is on the high end.

Overall: The beer has a lot of enjoyable flavors which is nice. The notes of clove, bay leaf, and the mint which follows are very welcome, as is the bubblegum which came from the back-half of the pour. Unfortunately it also carries this odd burnt herb flavor which is similar to cooking with herbs directly on a pan with the heat too high. There is also a presence of alcohol and the can states that this is only "6.8% ALC/VOL." There is virtually no aroma which is odd. It's a drinkable beer but it isn't one I would recommend or buy again.

Poured from an unfortunately undated 16oz can

On the pour, this is a beautiful golden ale. Super fine but active carbonation with a huge head that has great structure. It stays rocky and fine for a real long time. Some light lacing forms.

Aroma is basically a weaker version of a big belgian blond with some light spicy and even lighter fruity notes, but there is a nice bright citrusy lemony note. Behind the lemon is a nice sweet herbal smell that's likely a mix of hops and fermentation.

Taste is very nice. More drinkable than traditional duvel but still quite flavorful. Very bright and lemony, but then a nice biscuity maltiness comes in and balances everything very nicely. There is a slight hit of hop bitterness but it fades pretty quick but still does some nice work in making this crisp. This is a pretty sweet beer without the bottle conditioning.

Feel is relatively dry and effervescent. The finish is long and the malt is mouthcoating, but not overwhelming. Surprisingly crisp but also big. This is a pretty dang good year round anytime but session time beer.

Overall I enjoyed this quite a bit. More refreshing and malty than traditional duvel, but not lacking flavor in the slightest. Super beautiful through and through, and everything about this is enjoyable.

Bought a single 16oz can $4.99 Village Bottle Shop
200 days before best by date
Smell of citrus, floral
Clear golden color
Medium-light mouthfeel
Medium carbonation
Taste of citrus, lemons, grapefruit, tart apples
Overall just ok. Doesn't have the stronger flavors that I associate Belgian Ales with. More like a watered down cheaper version.

1 pint can into a pint glass. Date on can is 1/26/21, so over a year old.

Looking very good in the glass. Pale golden yellow body. Small bright white head shrinks to a collar and solid covering leaving rings of lacing.

Aroma is yeasty, grassy, with a faint whiff of hops.

On tasting, overall a very tasty beer. Smooth, sweet, a light bitter hop note. Abv seems higher than listed.

Mouth between medium and full, finish a lasting sweet-bitterness, abv felt. There is a late very mild metallic note which spoils it a bit.

Overall, other than the metallic note, a tasty, enjoyable drink. Happy to have another 3 in the fridge.

16oz can

Looks great, completely clear and bubbly: movie beer. It smells like it tastes, crisp and clean and yeasty, just a little fruit: lemon green apple banana, slight spice and a little bit of some lemony bitter hops; kind of disappointed on the hop taste considering the side of the can boasts about the citra hops they used - it barely comes across and has a slick feeling kinda rancid sweetness that comes across better in the scent. More slick and syrupy as it warms, should be drier. Drink it fast. Expensive as all heck, I tell ya hwhat

Try it if your pockets are deep, but for $16 a 4-pack I want a really good Belgian - this ain't it

Crowler filled 1/15/22; drank 1/16/22 @ the Yarchives.

See-through pale orange/yellow appearance.

A rough pour yielded a huge white head; strong, frothy lace.

Fresh apple & dry yeast notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Fresh apple & dry yeast flavors; this is simple, direct and very pleasant. I'd have another...
