Duvel Gefilterd

Appearance: golden, medium-large head, and some good lacing.

Smell: grainy malt.

Taste: grains, very faint hops, and a slight maltiness.

Mouthfeel: medium and smooth.

Overall:
This has a great feel to it. The flavor is ok and nothing more than an average pilsner. The mouthfeel is great and smooth.

Crystal clear golden color, not the same amount of head with the real Duvel but good enough for what it is. Slightly spicy aroma with some dry malt and alcohol as well. The flavor has the obvious Duvel like characteristics just not as flamboyant, a good beer but there is no need to even think about this beer ... yet it would be perfect for the US because 99% of the bartenders in the US don't even know how to friggin pour a real Duvel. So for them to pour this into a glass is a no brainer.

Pretty good, but kind of like watered down Duvel. Nice floral appley nose and palate with reasonable bitterness, enjoyable brew and ABV goes unoticed, kind of like a "session" Duvel, enjoyable.

(Served in a tulip glass)
A-This beer pours a crystal clear golden yellow with a thick mousy white head that last and last as a thick ring and is supported by a gentle carbonation of tiny bubbles.
S- This beer has a soft green hint with a pale malt note and a very light circus peanut hint. The finish is a light sulfury sweet hint.
T- This beer has a soft pale malt flavor with a soft nougat note and a clean crisp bite in the finish. There is a soft sulfury hint in the finish that turns a bit more tart as the beer warms.
M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a crisp finish and no alcohol heat.
D- This beer is very different from the aged Duvel. It has very faint hints of yeast characteristics and is a pretty clean lagered flavor. I don't know where it hides the 7.5 %ABV but its gone. Interesting to try but I will stick to the classic Duvel.

25 cl bottle purchased in Antwerp in December 2007, drink by 09/08.

Beer poured a clear, yellow to golden color with a half inch thick, very bubbly and crisp head. The head gave way rather quickly to a solid white ring on the edge. The nose is citrusy and some malt. There was also an aroma of yeast and hops in the background. The taste has citrus on the front end and then a hop bitterness thrown in as well. With a light body, it is very easy drinking and has some characteristics of the well known Duvel but less carbonation and the taste profile is different but this is still a decent beer and worth trying if you can find it.

The Duvel Green, on-tap at The Ginger Man. Belgian yeast aroma. Pale colour with soapy head. Good yeast, cloves and cinammon offset. Carbonation is spot on, not overdone. Drinkable, just not exceptional Belgian, and my alchololcount is rising in the try of it.

A: 1+ inch head, good retention, lots of carbonation, slightly orange gold. beach suds lacing.
S: yeasty orange cream hefeweizen smell. really nice.
T: very refreshing, transparent alcohol. is a very nice yet interesting blend of a hefeweizen like beer with a lager. Very nice.
M: nice carbonation, slightly mouth puckering and astringent.
D: very very good. one of the best ive had in awhile. its sad that it comes in a 25cl bottle. :(

Pours with a big white head, reminiscent of the normal Duvel. Not quite as persistent, but very good. Lots of bubbles from the carbonation. The smell is very mellow. One notices light fruits first, followed by a yeast. Alcohol is well masked. Taste is very pleasant. Again, light fruitiness followed by a bready taste. The mouthfeel is nothing special, but certainly not watery. Drinkability is good. I had this on a rare warm, sunny day in Antwerp, and it really hit the spot.

Came from the tap at Moan and Dove. The drink had a pale, clear yellow color with a patchy had and thin lacing. Aromas offered a herby tone with a floral, biscuit flavor. The drink had a bittersweet mixture with a citrus, apricot flavor. Hints of bread and yeast were also sensed. Really, really good carbonation. Aided in making the drink light but crisp. Overall, not too bad at all.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a large foamy head with huge bubbles and some good retention. Aroma of spicy yeast with some semi-sweet Belgian malt. Taste is a nice mix between some distinctive Moortgat spicy yeast and some distinctive Belgian malt. Body is fuller then average with some great carbonation. Lighter then the original Duvel but an interesting beer nonetheless.

Poured on tap at Birch & Barley/Churchkey DC into a tulip glass.

A soupy like head with not much rock white retention sits. Clear bodied pale amber like in color with lots of very fast rising carbonation. Lacing on the glass leaves a stickyness quality spiderweb.

Nose is a small kind of candy like and Belgian yeast, the classic sense, a little small though.

Taste is interesting a mix of sour and sweet with an interesting malt sensation. Lemon as well easy on the palate, with a little bit of prickly carbonation also. Some chewy wheat like feel too with a hint of candied sugar.

Overall this is alright it actually reminds me of a much better version of Delirium Tremens.

Green Duvel (Duvel for girls), 25 cl bottle, 7% abv (as stated on the bottle).

A: It looks very clear, pale golden, with a duvel-like fluffy head, and massive carbonation.
S: Quite similar to the regular one: bready, hoppy, slightly citrus, cloves, floral notes. pleasant yeast.
T: Hop, malty, cloves. Also several fruits: banana, lemon, slightly bitter aftertaste. Flavours are not massive, but it's balanced.
M: Very smooth and easy on the palate.
D: Very drinkable. it's tasty, and the alcohol is easily hidden by the flavours.

Brown 25cl bottle, best before Aug 2007, drank March 2007.

Poured into my Duvel party tulip glass, it looks fantastic, huge white foaming head, bubbles continuously replenishing the head through the clear golden yellow body of the beer.

Aroma of yeast and hops, summer, warm weather type of smell.

Good hoppy, yeast ester flavour, sourness and bitterness combine to explode in your mouth.

Dry aftertaste, which gets stronger as the beer warms in the mouth, yeast flavours stay around too.

Very impressed with this beer, almost as good as the normal Duvel.

First thing to note is that this review might be a little bit too harsh. This is a super drinkable, wonderfully flavored beer that has survived a trip back from France, after all.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a thin, whispy, tenacious white head with tight bubbles and nice lacing.

Great aroma brimming with bready, biscuit malt suffusing a warm, spicy, phenolic bloom of light fruit and clove. There's some earthy hop spice as well.

Taste is more of the same, well balanced, early/mid-palate sweetness drops off into a clean bitterness.

Mouthfeel is smooth and easy, effervescent and bright. Could use a bit more carbonation.

Extremely easy to drink, some late alcohol warmth clouds the pictures a bit.

Simple... you love Duvel, you'll love (or at least like) this.
