Bottle 09.17. Aroma of yeast and flowers, malt and wheat in background. Light golden, clear. White five fingered head, overcarbonated. Very fresh in taste - wheat, grass, yeast. Low bitterness, grassy and bready aftertaste. Medium carbonation, light body, slick texture, little notes of alcohol. Very refreshing and drinkable.

Bottled and possibly bottle conditioned and strangely turned up in local off licence
Golden body with huge lasting foaming white head
Some wheat some golden syrup and hugely subtle but not nasty sulphur dioxide aroma
All that in the flavour with some citrus
Lovely mf and slight over lively fizz
Unusual but good

L: Gives a clear golden color, a good top of head that disolves in slow tempo, good lacings on the glass

S: Very fruity aroma, banana, citrus , apples , some hints of corriander, flowers and honey

T&F: Fruity at first where also the spices are very noticable, the malt is gets more to know in the middle with the malty sweetness. Hoppy bitterness inn the finishing, the taste is well rounded, but i miss that little extra in the finishing, i would like a little more aftertaste. Else is very refreshing and easy drinkable

O: Absolutelly an enjoyable beer, a classic belgian beer. But i would like more flavours.

Had it from a 33cl bottle. Let's go!

A: Cloudy "orangy" golden color, with 2.5 fingers of a thick, white head. Disappears gradually. Very inviting.

S: Mostly bread, the stronger note, but it does not take over the rest. There is some sweetness, like banana, and some citrus. The aroma is kind of close to a white beer, and is very pleasant. There is no trace of alcohol

T: It begins with this citrus/grapefruit and banana flavor, followed by bread, malt. There is no bitterness, and no aftertaste. Something I didn't like that much is that, the taste doesn't stay in the mouth very long. The transitions between flavors are short, and there is little or no aftertaste. Again, the taste kind of reminds of a white beer in some aspects.

F: Medium to high carbonation. Nice for Autumn. I feel like the taste is not as full and complete as others in the same category, but its pleasant enough to drink.

O: Nice beer. Nothing impressive, but enjoyable.

750 mL bottle, best before 05/2017.

This bottle was brought back from Belgium as a gift. Thanks, Heather!

Deep gold color, but the clarity changed throughout its duration. The first pour resulted in brilliant clarity, with each successive pour more cloudy than the last. Big, pillowy white head that sticks to the site of the glass. Great looking beer.

Lots of fruit on the nose thanks to the yeast. Banana, pear, and apple. The flavor is a combination of malt/sugar sweetness and peppery spice. Very soft on the palate. Light to medium bodied with lively carbonation. Just a straightforward, fruity, refreshing, easy drinking Belgian ale.

This would make an excellent "table beer." Paired nicely with some grilled pork loin and potato salad.

This is the weaker sister of Tripel 10 and Brune (Dubbel) 8, weighing in at only 6% ABV. Let's give it a whirl. Popping the top I get a waft of banana and fruity malt. Pours to a cloudy bright yellow with a big pillowy head that recedes quickly but laces wickedly. Taste is definitely bready and banana with a twinge of bitterness that builds to the end then actually flips and gets sweet. A solid selection that can be more readily sessioner than its stronger sisters. Tasty none-the-less.

Very nice golden amber pour with a nice beige frothy head.
Aroma of sweet fruit, yeast and malt.
Tastes of apples and a hint of lemon. Candy floss somewhere in there.
Great champagne like carbonation and mild bitterness.
Really makes me understand why I like Belgium ales!

Poured a deep clear blond with a moderately retentive white head. Nice sticky lacing left. The aroma is mild, fruity and yeasty. The taste is very similar but a little more robust. The body has a nice light weight to it, with just a little bit of carbonation on the finish.

Great beer, just as a belgian pale ale should be.
Has a golden/ocher color, somewhat transparent and makes a big whitey foam.
Yeasty head, with some spicy and malty tones.
Taste is maltier and has a nice bitter end.
This beer is extremely well balanced, specially fot those who prefere them bitter.

The beer poured a perfect blonde color, and was slightly cloudy with a creamy white head that was two finger-widths. The head dissipated slowly leaving some Belgian lace.

It had a fruity (citrus) aroma with some toasted malt hints. There was also a slight air of hops.

The initial taste is extremely light with only a hint of fruitiness. The middle is quite dry, and the beer finishes with a crisp hoppy finish. It was a great example of what a Belgian blonde ale should taste like.

The mouth-feel on this beer is exceptional. It is extremely crisp and dry. The carbonation was on the high side.

Overall, this is a great Belgian blonde. If you are looking for something complex, then you might be disappointed, but then again... you probably shouldn't be drinking a blonde ale.

Hazy amber orange color with a thick head with good retention leaving a constant plate.
Light but still pleasant aroma of Belgian yeast, biscuit malt, some orange citrusy, banana and pears.
Flavor of spices, herbal and floral hops, Belgian yeast, lemon-orange citrusy, green apple juice, candied sugar, pineapple, nectarines and finishing with white wine and a white pepper hint. Mild tartness. Dry aftertaste with a medium bitterness.
Medium body with appropriate carbonation
Very well balanced, bitter-sweet Belgian blond elegantly spiced and with good fruit complexity. Thankfully not really sweet. All Maredsous are great solid brews.

330 ml bottle into chalice, best before 9/2014. Pours moderately cloudy deep gold color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of apricot, pear, apple, white grape, honey, bread, herbal, floral, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pale malt, hops, and fruity/earthy yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of apricot, pear, apple, white grape, honey, biscuit, herbal, floral, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of apricot, pear, apple, white grape, honey, biscuit, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of pale malt, hops, fruity/earthy yeast flavors; with a very nice malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good Belgian pale ale. Good balance, complexity, and robustness of pale malt, hops, and fruity/earthy yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

A: Golden, a bit of sediment, somewhat hazy, with a white head.

S: Fruity Belgian yeast esters dominate the nose, and it smells very tasty.

T: Those same fruity notes typical of Belgian yeast, delicious!

M: Medium bodied and smooth.

O: This was maybe my first Belgian ale, and I think it's a great introduction to Belgian ales. It's not imposing to look at with tons of sediment, nor is it an ugly quad. It doesn't have a very high abv, it tastes good, very fruit-forward and typical of the esters of Belgian yeast. Recommended, especially if you have never had a Belgian ale before.

a - amber/brown colour, pours a 8mm head that dissipates to a 4mm lacing (not too quickly mind), partly cloudy-bit of sediment in bottle

s - malt/wheat odours, hint of vanilla, pear, subtle

t - yeast is present in the taste, then comes fruity and slightly sweet aftertaste

m - medium body, slight carbonation, slightly dry and crisp. Relatively smooth for its type

not too bad, there are more flavour in other abbey beers out there, but relatively low alcohol content could be a bonus (or not, depending on taste)

750ml corked/caged bottle split between two large snifters. Best before 03 2015 L4287 07:48.

Pours slightly cloudy golden -- slightly cloudy because I poured some of the sediment in. It was crystal clear until then. White head, not much carbonation. Smells Belgian, yeasty, spicy. Maybe a bit of banana.

Taste is mild, but very fruity. More of the banana, some other fruit, maybe apricot. A little funky yeast.

Mouthfeel is very light. Overall, very good beer.

Dumpy 33cl bottle: BBD 05 2016, poured into a Westmalle chalice during 11 2013.

Looks good, almost clear golden body with a full and lasting foam blanket of white bubbles, I don't mind the slight haze if all the beer leaves the bottle.

The aroma was of semi-sweet fruits (apricots, oranges and peaches) dipped into Belgian yeasts: almost like a fruity breakfast spread of marmalade or jam.

The taste was a little less sweet, with the yeast taking centre stage, an old, musty feel arrived which added to the whole flavour. Herbal, spicy notes kept my taste buds interested and i thought it was a good brew from start to finish.

Body and mouth feel were fine and this is a fine beer, I look forward to finding it on-tap somewhere one day.

Bottle poured into a chimay glass. Deep golden color with a nice two finger head. Lacing nicely as I near the bottom of the glass. Mildly sour with fruity notes in both the smell and taste. This is my first impression but I would leave this one out of my top five Abby style beer. Great beer but it is in a tough catagory. Price point was on par with the beer though. A good value by comparison to other Belgian Trappist style beers.

Pours a copper amber with a large lasting beige fluffy head with good lacing. Aroma of Belgian yeast, bready , biscuit malt and some fruity notes. Taste is of Belgian yeast and bread, some slightly zesty fruit flavors with some mild citrus. Palate is a medium body, with mild carbonation. The finish is Belgian yeast and bread notes, mild zesty fruity flavors with some light bitterness. A good Belgian blonde ale with food or on its own.
