11.2oz bottle, Best Before 10 2015
L - very bubbly hazy champaign colored ale topped with a crazy persistent frothy white head
S - nice floral hop aroma, zesty, citric, fruity, banana and mandarin
T - very zesty with moderate bitterness; notes of orange and grapefruit zest, white grape, champagne, floral hops, biscuit, Belgian yeast, grassy and earthy hops - nice complexity
F - bitterness builds, drying on the palate, medium body with full carbonation bordering on being over carbonated.
O - a bit of a surprise here. I'm not crazy over the regular Duvel, but this was something different. I like it, although it was a bit pricy at $4.99 for the single bottle.

From the 11.2 fl. oz bottle marked 09-2015-L9282-1403. Sampled on February 1, 2014.

The pour is golden yellow with active carbonation leading up to a white fizzy head. The head fades to a ring in short order.

The aroma has a sort of crispy freshness to it due to the grassy hops intermingling with the grape and other citrus characters. Malts are hard to notice.

The body is light, bubbly, but also smooth.

The taste also has that same grassy character but the malts are easier to find on the palate than on the nose. A good toasted pale malt character balances off with the champagne-like effervescent. Slightly lingering finish. It has a very champagne feel to the whole thing.

Nice, clear gold -- can get cloudy if you do not stop your pour, of course. Frothy, white head. Smells wonderful. Notes of fruit and fresh mint hit the nose and the sex appeal of this gets a nice boost.

Mango and papaya upfront with a touch of mint and dill make a wonderful compliment to a well-constructed tripel. A touch of earth and funk in the finish, with sweet malts ringing through the front of the palate. A bit juicy but also finishes dry; very approachable in this respect. Very tasty and a great riff on an already great beer style.

Would really work nice with a chirashi bowl. Also, anything that might accentuate the tropical notes would work nice -- maybe something with a bit of heat to bring out the sweet. This is a bit on the spendy side but is well worth your hard-earned cash.

Wasn't quite sure what to expect from this offering but what I got was a refreshing, very tasty beer that I thoroughly enjoyed.

The appearance looked more like a white ale, hazy light pale yellow with significant carbonation sustaining a soapy head. I didn't notice much in the first few sniffs, but slowly got a hint of yeast along with lemon, the combination somehow making me think of tangerine.

The taste hits with the carbonation, and initially a lighter feel. Then I get a little lemon-mint (what my previous experience tells me is the Sorachi hops) layered on a tart and yeasty backbone, with a hint of banana in the background. Describing it makes me think there would be no way I would like the beer I just described. However the tastes aren't as distinct as the description and are balanced quite well.

The ending of the beer leaves a light lingering of the initial lemon-mint in a drier, almost resinous form. I will definitely grab some mire of this beer given the chance.

Poured a pale, cloudy golden body with large white head that dies quick but leaves lace patches. A piney hop aroma that borders on dirty and an interesting mix of some yeast and sweet malts as well. The beer is crisp, light to medium bodied, mostly a citric, piney hop profile but there is not only a touch of sour citricness but a little bit yeasty and I get some sweet malts and sweet fruit notes (like grapefruit or tangerine which not accustomed to tasting in Belgian beers). Thanks to the carbonation and hops this beer finishes dry and crisp. I am not a huge Duvel fan but this beer really hit the spot.
