A medium strong pour from a 12-oz. bottle was needed to reach a finger of dark khaki creamy foam with long retention and broken arches of lace. Dark vintage rosewood color, opaque and almost black.
Strong smell of baker’s chocolate and roasted coffee beans with caramel and toasted mixed nuts. Alcohol is noticeable and medicinal.
Rich malt taste with toffee added to the items from the smell. Between semi-sweet and neutral, average bitterness from hops and roasted malt. Caramel malt and soft carbonation add richness and make the middle almost sweet. A long bitter and astringent finish, a little chalky. Bitter roasted malt lingers.
Medium body with average+ carbonation, malty rich and smooth until the finish. Alcohol taste is strong yet moderated by abundant malt. Coffee and roasted malt bitterness are a little high at the end.

Pours a four-finger khaki head that fades slowly, leaving some lace. Black color, no highlights. Light-medium carbonation and heavy bodied. Nose is baker's chocolate, flavor has hints of caramel but mostly baker's chocolate. Higher ABV (10.5%) is hidden. $3.29 for a 12 oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

Pours nice but aroma is medicinal like rubbing alcohol. Taste similar to aroma and watert mess. Basically a massive disappointment from start to finish

Pours opaque, black in color with minimal head. Taste is chocolate, char, oak, and caramel. Heavy bodied with low carbonation. Sweet and roasty. Makes for a very good roasty treat. Really impressed with this one. I will get this again.

P- Poured from a 12 oz bottle,into a large Funky Buddha snifter.Bottled on 03/08/17.
L- Thin khaki colored head that dissolves quickly, leaving a light lacing on the glass.Silky jet black colored body, with no light showing through the glass.Light amount of carbonation.
S- On the nose I get dark roasted malt, smoked wood, toffee, black strap molasses, dark roasted coffee, black licorice, and dark chocolate notes.
T- On the palate I get chocolate and licorice up front.Dark roasted malt and smoke in the middle. It finishes off on the back end with dark chocolate,a faint hint of dark coffee, and some smoke.
F- Heavy on the mouth feel, with a silky texture.Low amount of oxidation on the tongue. There is a slight presence of alcohol warming after the sip, although you cannot taste any alcohol.
O- This is a good textbook Russian Imperial.I can definitely see myself drinking this one again. If you are a Russian Imperial Stout enthusiast like myself,I suggest you give this one a try.
