Poured from the 22 oz, bomber into a Samuel Adams nonick.

a: Opaque black with an inch thick tan head which receded to rocky surface foam and dense lacing.

s; Sweet dark malt, black coffee and chocolate.

t; Intense dark malt with chocolate and roasty coffee notes followed by moderate bitterness which lingers slightly on an otherwise fairly dry finish. High ABV very well concealed by both malt and hops..

m: Medium to full, very good body, considerable carbonation tingle.

o; Loads of flavor here. The hop balance is good but bitterness tends to linger too long in the finish, at least at first. A sipper.

Split with Hab11.
Pours into a tree house snifter a jet black color with a dark khaki or nougat colored one finger head that dissipates somewhat quickly leaving behind a 1 or 2 mm lingering head. Very minimal lacing.

Smell: cocoa powder. Bitter chocolate. If you really reach for it one may even find sweet Hershey's syrup. Extremely fragrant.

Taste: wow that is chocolatey! That is an impressive amount of chocolate. Fairly sweet but we'll balanced, not too sweet. Nice dark roasted malts. Bitterness is hidden very well. Only slightly bitter at the end but again mixed with that sweetness. Extremely smooth. Oh yeah and for 9% abv this is impressively smooth.

Mouth: my first reaction when I tasted this beer was the incredible silky smoothness! It was the epic chocolate taste that followed. Great mouthful. Just the right amount of light carbonation but oh so silky.

Overall: well what can I say? For a 9% oatmeal stout brewed with coffee, cocoa nibs and vanilla beans this beer sure does deliver. I could use a lot more of the coffee flavor to come through but maybe I'm just spoiled from all the Tree House double shot varieties that I had over the last year. Still this is a very impressive beer. Excellent work from Ben and the guys at Wormtown. Would definitely purchase and drink again in a heartbeat. Can't beat the price either. Good beer.

Shared with Three Lions from a 22oz. Bomber.
Look: Black like onyx with a nougat head of about one finger. Minimal lacing.
Smell: deep dark roasted coffee notes, dark chocolate, heavy cream, unsalted butter, French vanilla. Really pleasantly aromatic with all the above smells.
Taste: Mirrors the nose but the chocolate takes center stage, coffee ads the bite. All of the flavors really complement each other. Much better than the last time I had it in draft form.
Feel: in the mouth it is so smooth at the back of the throat like licking a fresh wax job. Bite from the coffee flavors hits mid tongue. This brew is not bitter and not to smooth. It really hits the mark.
Overall: so impressed this is a perfectly balanced stout! It balances the sweet with the bite perfectly. To many in this style miss one way or the other even from great brewers like Hill Farmstead. This is my local brewer who just expanded! Yay for me and my palate!

Big roasty characters, dry, nice mouth feel. Slight sweetness, but just enough to make it go. It's delicious.
