Pours a three-finger tan head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Black color no highlights. Good carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Nose is roasted coffee and flavor is roasted coffee and hints of chocolate. $3.29 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. The beer pours a dark chocolate color with a creamy beige head of 1cm foaming up. The foam remains as a surface island covering most of the glass and a sturdy edge layer. The foam leaves tight lattice on the sides after each sip.
Aroma on the beer is roasted malt, almost charred wood notes with some coffee grounds mixed in the background. There is a little bit of dark chocolate, but mostly roasted burnt notes dominate. There isnt any hint of the ABV nor any hops.
First sip reveals a lighter body than I expected with very fine and tingly carbonation. The beer drinks very easy for an imp stout and one at 9%.
Flavor is what the nose predicts, but is pretty mild overall. I get the roasted malt and dark chocolate again with a little lingering chalky bakers chocolate. Again the booze is hidden and hops dont show either.
this is a good imp stout in that the booze is hidden but it could be a little more robust in flavor and nose to really push up my rating. Worth a try but dont chase it.

Opaque chocolate color with a 2F head in a Mikasa Tulip. Nice looking beer.
Chocolate, coffee, sweet, roasted malt- excellent aroma.
Viscous, medium body, just right for the style.
Aroma transitions well to taste with more intense chocolate, coffee, and roast d malt.
Perfect cold winter stout.

On-tap 5/1/2017 at Mac & Walt’s in Norton, MA, served in a nonic pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a large beige head that fades slowly and leaves a very thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains coffee, chocolate, oats, roasted malts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of coffee and chocolate. Then some breadiness comes in from toasted oats and a hearty roasted malt character. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium-to-heavy body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, slightly filling, good kick, good representation of style, this is a solid stout to drink for a while if you’re in the mood for the style.
