A surprise offering from Wormtown. This special brew is actually their Elm Park Amber that they aged in red wine barrels for three months then steeped with fresh raspberries. Served in a snifter it 86'd right after this pour.

A - This brew is a wonderful ruby red crystal clear with a big dense creamy one finger slightly ruby head that leaves an epic amount of side lacing as well as good wisping.

S - Very good malt start that immediately gives way to super fresh raspberry and vinous notes.

T - Again nice malty start and sweet red wine notes. There are more excellent raspberry flavours that are so incredibly fresh. Good barrel notes too.

M - This is the biggest let down presumably because it was about to kick. The feel is incredibly flat and watery though slightly smooth.

Edit: M - I went back and had this beer again for a better sampling. This time it had a nice light but crisp carbonation that really worked well with this flavorful amber. Quite refreshing. The number has been updated to reflect a propped snifter of this brew.

O - This brew is not that bad. In fact with better carbonation this would be something magical. The raspberry is so fresh I will definitely try this again to see if the mouthfeel has been fixed. (1,242 characters)

Tap at peppercorns

Light creamy rosy head with thick lacing, mostly clear rosy copper color.

Nose has fresh fruit, raspberries, a bit of bright lighter malts, some toasty reddish malts, touch of caramel and touch of musty grape.

Taste had some syrupy malts, reddish toasty crystal malts, little caramel, touch of bready yeast, light malt flavor, fairly sweet, and nice fresh fruit, raspberries, bright fruits with hint of wine, touch of oak comes through rounding the fruit flavors. Finishes drier with some malts, light raspberries, and light tartness, slightly bitter, long fruit finish.

Mouth is med to slightly lighter bodied, decent carb.

Overall good, nice raspberry flavor mixes well with the fruit, bit dry malty finish, light tartness, very drinkable, the oak is held in check well and doesn't overpower the delicate beer, the wine adds a nice light touch and fresh raspberries are nice. A bit more tartness would have been up my alley more but this was still nice and refreshing. (994 characters)

Served in a snifter at Peppercorns.

Nice white head faded after a few minutes leaving film and lacing on the side. Crimson red raspberry in body color. Nice looking beer for sure.

Raspberry hits the nose with definite red wine aroma. Smells very nice.

The taste is a red wine, raspberry and has a ale quality to it. The wine flavor is very pronounced. I am not a big fan of wine but this works very well. Tasty -- not too complex from the wine barrels.

Slightly spritzy, dry, light in body. Feels nice.

This is a pretty good beer that's infused with wine barrel aging. Goes down well, although not high in alcohol, it's a sipper for sure. (644 characters)
