A: Dark brown almost black, a bit of lacing remains on top

S: chocolatey/roasty goodness with a bit of coffee and coconut

T: See above...

M: I would have to say medium bodied slightly thick but nice

O: I heard and or read somewhere/someone mention" Almond Joy" and that is pretty accurate. I wasn't sure if I would like this as I'm not a fan of sweet tasting brews. I have to say this is a well balanced and very nice beer to drink... Cheers!

12oz bottle poured into a large snifter.

A: Very dark brown, just a shade away from black. A creamy tan head persists nicely and leaves small spots of lacing trailing it.

S: Rich milk chocolate aromas, enticing wafts of toasted coconut. Malts lend nutty scents, hints of cola, caramel turtles, and mocha. Quick whiff of plum. The cocoa nibs and coconut combine to create the dominant aroma, which closely resembles an Almond Joy.

T: Rich flavor of cocoa nibs leaves a lasting and creamy milk chocolate impression. Cola and chewy caramel underneath. Nutty, toasty, and roasty. Dab of brown molasses. Chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. Toasted coconut bursts through and hits its apex middle to end. Very faint, tight hint of plum. Milk chocolate, cola, and toasted coconut on the finish.

M: Medium bodied. Perhaps a bit thin, but the oats save it with a nice silky and creamy feel. Low carbonation.

O: A very hedonistic drinking experience, if I may borrow a wine term. What we have here is a well-rounded beer that is pleasurable in all respects and very easy to drink. Not the most complicated beer out there, but it's nice to be able to just enjoy drinking a beer without having to think about it too much. If you like Almond Joy candy bars, boy do I have a recommendation for you. A very memorable beer.

Wormtown Brewery - Norm

Bottled October 2013, consumed 11/20/13, 6.8%
22 oz. bomber to standard pint

Let it sit out of the fridge for 20 minutes or so before opening.

Pours very black. Thin tan head fades out to a ring with a little island in the middle.

Smell is sweet chocolate and coconut. Buttery and rich. A specific sense of powdered cocoa too.

Taste is more of the same but not as sweet as the smell was. Coconut seems to float around in the flavor. It's there but not too strong at the expense of the other components. The oatmeal stout serves well as the base for this beer. It does not feel too confectionery or cloying. I had some concern that might pop up but happily it does not.

Body is smooth and viscous at first. Not quite thick but almost. Carbonation activates on the tongue a little. Aftertaste has some bitter chocolate and roasty malt flavors.

I think this is an excellent beer. I had no trouble putting back the whole bomber. Between this and Sweet Tats Wormtown has delivered two of the best stouts I've had in the past few years. Great job on this one.
