"Official description - 5.8% ABV, 60+ IBU's. Brewed with all Massachusetts grown barley and hops. Four different kinds of malted barley from Valley Malt (Hadley). Fresh picked cascade, magnum and chinook wet hops from Clover Hill Farm (Hardwick) and 4 Star Farm (Northfield). Light Malt sweetness on tip of tongue is quickly forgotten and turns to earthy citrus hop flavor and bitterness."
Tap at Horseshoe Pub
Big creamy 1 finger head fades semi slowly with nice notched lacing over semi hazy copper orange color.
Nose light fruity hops, hint grassy hop, light resin and hop oil, light sweet copper amber malts.
Taste starts a little piney, light floral and hint spicy hops, fresh wet hop like oils and resins. There is a light grassy straw like hop as well. Nice bitter bite but not too much. Malts bring light sweetness, little amber malt almost caramel but not really caramel. Finish is fairly dry but not as much as I expected, some bitterness and gets a bit more bitter with light spicy and but grassy earthy hops.
Mouth is med bodied, decent carb.
Overall pretty good, nice fresh hop characters, resin, hop oils, light malt base, carries itself well. I almost thought I wanted a drier finish but realized that would make the bitterness too strong so it's better this way. Well balanced and tasty. I wouldn't go so far to call this an amazing beer, but it's def a good one.
