Pours a nice ruby red, but our bottle's carbonation was quit low, so there was no head at all.
Smelled nicely hoppy & grassy.
Taste: biscuity, spicy, citrus... a lot going on in this beer, quite complex but not entirely pleasing to my palate. Perhaps the lack of carbonation had something to do with that.
Mouthfeel: Again, lack of carbonation, but otherwise a full-bodied beer. Maybe a little syrupy.
Overall: we were not overly impressed with this beer. Expected more from Element.
Might try it again to see if this was just a bad bottle.

The beer pours a tan but slightly reddish and creamy head that dissipates quickly. The beer itself is a very dark ruby that is almost fully purple. The beer smell has a strong caramel malt sweetness that mixes well with the hop bitterness but neither note dominates the other. The smell also has some notes of oak and a tiny hint of vanilla. The beer taste is similar to the smell in regards to notes but differ in strength. The hop bitterness is much stronger than the malt sweetness and the sweetness appears to actually dull the hoppiness. The slight oak and vanilla are still there as hidden notes but come out stronger in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel of the beer is smooth and slick with biting carbonation. Overall ,a pretty good beer and worth getting.

Bottle reviewed from phone notes taken a month or so ago. Almost forgot to enter this review but glad I remembered it.

A- Fairly hazy and murky dark red body with a frothy creamy off white head. The cap forms to about two fingers with good retention. Fizzy ring leaves spotty lace all around the glass.

S- Mostly malts and yeast in the aroma. Toasty, nutty and somewhat spicy. Caramel sweets and apples also come to mind.

T- Yeasty, feels somewhat spicy Belgian with nice fruity esters. Fruit notes of apples and raisins as well as toasty, nutty, caramel and biscuit malts. Spicy hops provide some balance.

MF- Moderately thick body with carbonation that is at the high end with crisp and silky textures. Finishes with some yeast spice and hop bitterness

Interesting yeast flavors mixed with a nice complex and deep malt profile.

On-tap at Cooper's Craft & Kitchen, New York, NY

A: The beer is crystal clear dark amber in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin beige head that died down and left lacing on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of grainy malts and spices are present in the nose along with hints of caramel.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and also has a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a very good balance between the malts and hops.

Element's prolix but eloquent wrapper surrounds a corked and capped bomber. The cork yields after considerable effort and an extraordinarily loud and satisfying report. The decanted liquid is a beautiful deep auburn, surmounted by a frothy, uneven, tan head that is surprisingly short-lived. No cling to speak of.

The beer has a reserved wood-and-leather flavor, with a baking chocolate backdrop. Each draw from the pilsner glass has a distinct beginning, middle, and end. Initial maltiness leads to an expectation of sweetness; a welling of boozy volatility elicits bracing for a bitter finish; then a surprising, subtle, carob-like sendoff wraps things up. The beer's feel is all foam and cream. A nice piece of work from an apparently brainy brewer.
