Dark reddish brown with moderate, long lasting head. Sour cherries with vanilla notes, slightly sweet with a strong tart finish. So much like the Monks Flemish Sour Ale in taste and appearance, I wonder if they are not in fact of the same style instead of being classified as an Oud Bruin.

11.2 oz bottle poured into a chalice.

A: Brilliant red, not much in the way of lacing or retention. Copious visible carbonation.

S: A wonderful mix of cherry and wild berry, with emphasis on the cherry. Not as strong as some other sensations and not much of a hint of sourness yet.

T: Pretty much perfect. A wave of sharp sourness with each sip, replaced by cherry tartness with a bit of deeper, almost malt berry-cherry aftertaste. While some other sours have a "rounder" sort of taste, this one starts strong but fades through a tasty palate, with hints of vanilla and oak. The cherry also feels "real" and not fake.

F: Initial hit after each sip will make you pucker, but in a good way. Solid carbonation, mouthfeel is more on the thin side (perhaps due to the low alcohol content), but works well with the flavors of the beer. Dry in a good way.

O: One of my favorite sours. It's less fruity than more wild ales and less vinegarish than other Flanders Reds. Sharp tartness, but not extreme and excellent middle-to-aftertaste.

Great on tap. The nose definitely points directly to the taste. A very pleasing sour with notes of tart blueberry.

A: Garnet with moderate tan head. Medium thickness.

S: Moderate sour cherry, light berry.

T: Strong cherry flavor with moderate wild yeast, accompanied a moderate taste of other berries. Two thirds sour and one third sweet.

M: Medium viscosity and carbonation that complement the wild cherry flavor quite nicely.

O: If Wild Cherry Pepsi grew up from a quirky teenager into an eccentric mad scientist, this would be the result. Delightfully flavorful beverage that masterfully covers its alcoholic notes with bold essence of wild cherry and berry. Extremely refreshing.
