Poured from a bottle into a Duvel snifter. Pours a dark, reddish-brown color that shows beautiful ruby highlights when held to the light. The head is khaki and one finger thick and dissipates rather quickly. The nose definitely has some nice tart, acidic notes like cherries and white wine. There's definitely a bit of oakiness there too. Nice.

The beer has a medium body and a good, firm mouthfeel. The carbonation is not too high and the acidity doesn't get washed out. What acidity there is seems to be very well balanced against nice sweet flavors of apples and plums. The tartness is not overly intense. It just carries over the palate and down the back of the throat, creating a nice, appetizing finish like a white wine. Extremely refreshing.

This would be an excellent beer for someone new to sours. It's not too intense, but anyone can taste the quality. It is balanced, interesting, tasty, and refreshing.

Pours very dark amber, reddish up into the light. A very thin white head just for a minute, thin lace, a bit sticky.
Smells nice, big vinegar, some sour cherries, amaretto, apple cider, berries, Belgian sugars, faint cocoa and barrel.
Taste starts with tart cherries, just a touch of vinegar, and lots of mixed fruity notes, with raspberries, blackcurrants, red apple, faint banana, yellow pear, faint lemon and red grapes. A clearer malty canvas than other sours, bit of dark bread. Vanilla, candy sugar, cherry pits, nice oak barrel notes, some funky moldy cellar notes too. Very clean finish, low bitterness, sourness goes away completely and leaves a very fruity aftertaste.
Medium body, chewy, medium carbonation. The initial sourness is perfectly balanced by fruity sweetness and (almost) robust malts, making it really easy to drink.
Perfect "gateway" Oud Bruin, packed full with flavour, not too complex for a sour, cheap and simply a great beer.
