500 mL brown bottle poured into a pint glass.
At first glance I didn't know if this was actually a beer, or merely an alco-pop. It is, however made of barley, hops and yeast with some added spices for the root beer effect.
A: black/dark ruby beer that pours fizzy but leaves absolutely no head whatsoever. Ends up the colour of a cola or dark-coloured root beer.
S: smells just like root beer with a bit of added spice--annis/liquorice with a very sweet aroma overall.
T: tastes very sweet upfront--much like a non-alcoholic root beer, but there is a slight artificial taste on the tongue. It could possibly be the bitterness of the beer underneath but the overall taste is not of beer but carries the sweetness of the root beer.
M: cola-like, fizzy and relatively light.
O: This is an interesting experiment and I wouldn't turn one down, but I won't be looking for this regularly just because it tastes so unlike beer.
