This is one of the better places to eat in West Lafayette. The only problem, is if you live there it can get old. They never update their food menu, so its always the same things. They have a very limited beer selection, choosing to, and no surprise, focus on Irish beers. They do, however; pour a very good Guinness. That is usually what I got when I was there. Every Friday night, I believe, they have a live Irish band play, but it can get crowded on those nights. 9 Irish is less of a college bar and more of an "adult" bar if you will. There are less college students that frequent it as they tend to stick to the campus bars. If you're visiting it is a good place to have dinner, because there are not many choices.

My home collegiate stomping grounds. Typical lineup of Irish beers. Best place to get a Guinness that I have found yet. Live Irish music on Fridays and Saturdays. Probably the best Irish food at an Irish pub that I have found to date. Really miss this place...

Home of the Best Pint of Guinness in the US awarded by Diageo.

Atmosphere - My brother had referenced how good the decor was, but the owner told me the story behind it one night. All of the furniture and decor was shipped from Ireland so it's one of those rare times when authentic fully means authentic.

Quality - I've never had a bad meal or beer there, but its selection of beers isn't huge (they do have a good menu with combo beers).

Service - All the staff is with the theme, but not over the top or gimmicky. They have a good knowledge of the menu and the bar which also has a huge whiskey selection.

Selection & Food - The menu is full of both Irish classics and slightly more Americanized foods, but it's rare enough to find good Irish food that I stick to that when I'm there. The Guinness Stew & Sheppard's Pie are standout.

Value - Easily one of my favorite places to go. The whiskey flights and the Brady's Irish Cream are also great.

A: Interesting story behind this place. The owner went over to Ireland, personally selected, and shipped back all the decor, wood finishings, lighting fixtures, and tables&chairs. All the servers have kilts, and TVs show rugby & football. (real football) They show a Purdue game or major sporting championships as well.

Q: Top notch. Consistently rated the "best pour of guinness" in america. Its real simple: I come here 'cause you can really tell their tap system is maintained well, and it performs superbly.

S: I have yet to hear anybody say anything bad about this place. Every time i've been there, it's been fantastic.

Selection: They offer a lot of combination pours beyond the black & tan that I dont think you will find in many other places in town. The mixed drink & liquor selection is great. The usually host an annual whiskey tasting.

Food: Typical irish pub grub, and then some selections that are their own. It's prepared nicely.

Overall: Wherever I go, I end up comparing this place to any other irish pubs I go to. Its a great place, and my only complaint is that sometime the seating is a problem.

One of the 2 places I recommend to eat to people when they visit Purdue.

Great food. It's all either Irish or American fare. They have some good traditional "Hoosier" food like breaded tenderloin. Traditional pub fare like fish and chips also really good.

Beer-wise, they pour "the best pint of Guinness in the US." Not sure about that, but they have an exclusive beer brewed by People's in Lafayette that is pretty good. Not great beer selection, but they do Irish drinks well.

Not to pricey and servers are in kilts. Good homey Irish pub feel with some uniquely shaped and positioned tables.

Great place to get drinks just off campus, but not a good place to get a beer. The food is great and the feeling of an Irish pub makes you feel warm inside. Everybody is nice but the don't know anything about beer. Harp is available... I got lucky one night and had the unique oppurtunity to drink a People's Fiddlin' Willy Scottish on a nitro tap and for that I am thankful. Awesome with a thick creamy head. Other than that... Harp is available... And whether they fake it or not, the cute girls and their Irish accent is worth the bar tab.

Let's be frank here: The Purdue bar scene is pretty sad. Luckily though, we Boilermakers have Nine Irish Bros. Rather than some crappy dude bar with loud c-rap blasting through my eardrums while I down pitchers of swill, NIB is straight Irish (big shocker, right?). Everything is wooden (literally), with a country pub feel, as though the place were situated in an Irish hamlet village instead of one of the busier, more urban parts of West Lafayette. Occasionally, a live band rocks some traditional Irish music.

The food is very tasty, with my 'buds leaning toward the steak as their favorite, especially with the car bomb sauce. The beer isn't really that varied, sticking mainly to Irish offerings with a focus on Guinness, both alone and mixed with all sorts o' things (a couple o' the stranger ones to me were the Wasp Sting (something like that), Guinness and OJ, and the Guinness/Coke mixture). Though the variety is lacking, it's all poured very well, the glass is continuously filled, and the service is both knowledgeable (to whatever extent they need to be) and extremely courteous.

If you ask me, one of the best times to come here is about 2 hours before closing (even on the weekends), as there's less people, less of a wait for a table, and the atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing pint with your buds, while you play some nice card games. True story.

Good times will be had at Nine Irish.

Nine Irish Brothers is the best place in the campus area to get a pint. Sure there are other bars that lean to the college mixed drink atmosphere, but Nine Irish is the best for beer.

The atmosphere is awesome, intended to look just like the traditional Irish pub. Celtic music playing and furniture and wall coverings that fit nicely with the vibe as well. The quality of the place is top-notch. What you see there is what you get.

The service is on par with any good restaurant and the waitstaff is quite knowledgeable when it comes especially to the food. But they can give you a hint as to what might be best to drink.

As far as selection goes there's only a few types of brews on tap, all of them Irish of course. What makes it good is not only is this a place where they have the authentic nitro tap for the Guinness, but they'll even put the clover design in the head for you. There is an extensive menu on split beer combinations such as a black and tan, Guinness and Strongbow, a Blacksmith. Really good mixes that help change up the palate so you never get bored.

The food is pretty darn good here. Best fish 'n' chips around. My friend has vouched for the authenticity of the Shepherd's Pie as well. The food is top notch just like many things here. It's really a great establishment. Makes me sad that I had to leave Purdue.
