I went here a while back when I worked in the area. This place is huge, with a ridonculous craft beer draft selection. Prices were a bit high, & parking is challenging.

This is a popular place for semi-large gatherings of work colleagues every night. There's an extensive beer list with all of the familiar chestnuts from the larger microbrew world. When I've come here with my friends from work, we've always had an enjoyable time trying the large variety of predictable beers. The appetizers are very good and equally predictable. This is a modern version of a fern bar; yuppies are very happy but true beer connoisseurs will go elsewhere.

Vibe is a larger venue focused more on capacity than character. Service depends on how crowded it is; I've had terrible service at a table, great service outside and good service at the bar. Snack on the truffle fries while perusing the large selection of taps, including Wormtown, Stone, Ballast Point, Allagash, Clown Shoes, Pretty Things and nine dozen more. $6-7 for a pint so it's neither cheap nor expensive for the area. Worth a visit for the tap selection alone. I've seen the "chalkboard" taps pouring Backwoods Bastard, Allagash Avance and Lagunitas Waldo which is pretty great.

A - Big stainless steely room with some nice art, the central point of which is a huge bar with over 100 taps. Nice and clean enough, but loud and not very homey.

Q - The food is good and the beers are cold and seem fresh, although not always served in appropriate glassware. You would think a bar with more than 12 wheat beers on tap might have glasses other than pint glasses to serve them in.

S - Big place, and I felt like I got lost a bit. The drinks took a while to make it to our table after we ordered them.

S - Big selection, but a lot of the beers are not really crafty. While the selection was large, I found myself basically ignoring a good chunk of them. It seems strange feeling that a 4.25 score on selection is high considering there are over 100 taps.

F - I had a buffalo wing app that was nice, along with orange peel chicken that I really like.

V - Everything seemed like it was priced a dollar or two above where it should be. For two of us, 3 drinks each, an app, and a meal, the bill was $85. For me, the experience isn't good enough to justify that kind of price tag.

Atmosphere: Layout is similar to BBC, with a large, central bar and table/booth seating around, but has a more modern style. Has a glassed-in keg room visible from the dining room, which gives the appearance of a brewpub, although they don't brew onsite. I've been there a few times, and it always seems to be a bit crowded, which can be a bit off-putting if I'm trying to just sit and enjoy a few beers.

Quality: Everything is very sleek modern; always seems very clean. Beer is fresh and food has always been well-prepared.

Service: Bartenders and waitstaff are very helpful and knowledgeable - though more so about the food than the beer. Due to the aforementioned crowd, service can sometimes be a little slow, both in getting your order in, and in the time it takes for the kitchen to send it out (or for your beer to be poured) - in both cases, I've had better results when sitting at the bar rather than at a table.

Selection: Great number of taps, and a good variety of styles to choose from; no matter what your preference is, you will find something you like here. My only complaints are that some of the beers are served too cold, and the tap list doesn't change very much. If you're like me, and always looking for new and interesting beers to try, you might find yourself running out of stuff you haven't already had.

Food: The food is outstanding, if a little pricey. Some upscale menu selections, without being overly fancy.

Overall: It's been hard to find places that have a good beer selection that aren't off the beaten path, at least in my neck of the woods (SE MA). Although it is a chain, the Yard House fits the bill nicely - it has a good enough beer selection that I can have some brews I can't get just anywhere, but it is also a place I can take my wife (who likes beer, but not to the same degree) and have a nice "date night" in a great atmosphere.

My wife and I had just completed a chilled-to-the-bone 3.5 mile hike through the woods at a nearby Trustees of the Reservation Park in Sharon. We were cold, thirsty and hungry. Our plan was to reward ourselves for our healthy tramp through the woods with lunch (and Beer) at the Yard House. After winding our way through the maze-like parking lots, we entered Yard House and found a line formed from the reception booth and into the foyer. Everyone with buzzers in hand. 35 minute wait for table? There were a few seats at the bar, so we grabbed them (we prefer the bar anyway!)
It’s mid-afternoon on MLK Day and the place is packed. But, who are these people? And just what is Yard House?
At center stage, is a massive stainless oval bar (think NASCAR track) that anchors the entire restaurant. Lots of glass, stainless and modernistic motifs lend a sort of futuristic and/or industrial look. Flat screen TVs are mostly positioned where they are not in any particular line of sight. It’s a sprawling place yet there’s a logical flow and order to it. Restaurant-style seating surrounds the bar, creating somewhat narrow passageways. But it’s the array of tap handles that draws the attention. Indeed! 114 tap handles!
There are good selections of Belgians, Germans, English, US (East and West Coast, plus some familiar locals), along with a line of the usual suspects from the US mega-brewers (who must not be named), plus some of the easy-to-find Euro and Asian selections such as Henie, Stella, Peroni and Sapporo. What’s missing are a few rare, eye-popping, jaw-dropping selections that create that “nirvana” moment for the über beer geeks. But be assured, if you have a pulse you will find something to arouse the buds.
Baffled by all the beer choices? They offer a “Six Pack” of 5 oz. samplers. While it might be a nice idea to introduce folks to new beer styles, 5 oz. in narrow cylindrical glasses is too small an amount for the average beer enthusiast to fully capture the essences and nuances of a beer. It would be better to serve 4 - 8 oz. beers in wide mouth glasses. But, that’s just my opinion… A few seats down from us, a guy was rating his Belgian 6 pack sampler starting with the St. Bernardus Abt 12, followed by the Tripel Karmeliet. Good luck tasting the rest!
I ordered a Notch Session. It arrived in a standard pint glass with a proper 2” head. It was a bit too chilled, but not frosted. The Tripel Karmeliet arrived in a proper short-stemmed goblet, but it was too cold and the head was a bit stifled. I waited 5 minutes before enjoying. Bliss!
The food menu is interesting and varied enough with three full pages of tempting offerings. I ordered 3 different “Street Tacos” (Korean Short Rib, Chicken Tinga, and Korean Pork Belly). When the waitress brought our order, she explained that the chef had only enough pork belly for about ½ of their normal portion. She asked if I wanted to try a different taco option. I told her not to worry about it. The ½ portion was just fine. Long story, short…they took the entire order (which was delicious) off the check. Note to self; It pays NOT to complain! BTW - My wife ordered the vegetarian (with Gardein™) salad and was quite pleased with the quality and quantity of her choice.
So, what exactly is Yard House? A sports bar chain? Sort of…I guess you could gather there with friends to watch a game...enjoy some beer and appetizers.
Is it a beer bar? In a way…in a pretty big way, though a few of the über beer geeks might whine a bit.
Is it a gastro-pub? It could be interpreted as a very large one.
Is it a beer-focused family restaurant? Could be. There were families with children. They all seemed content.
The Yard House can appeal to a wide range of clientele without falling into any clique and that’s a pretty nifty feat!
On a side note; There’s a mega-Whole Foods in Legacy Place which happens to have a fairly solid beer section. Now you have an even better reason for getting in the car and visiting the Yard House.

I'll start by saying that I like the Yard House. I go there a lot because it's a 7 minute drive from my house, and they have a huge beer selection (I think 114 beers on tap at any given point). I've been to this Yard House, and the one at LA Live (in California). For a quick comparison, the one in LA Live (IMO) is much better, based on its beer selection, but that could just be because I like California beers more than the northeast beers. At the LA Live Yard House, they had Deschutes Black Butte and their pale ale on tap, a few different Firestone beers, old rasputin, and plenty of stone on tap. The Dedham Yard House always has a consistent selection, but they almost never rotate their tap list (I think they do it seasonally), because they're a big chain. This is unfortunate, because I would go there more often if they rotated and got harder-to-find beers like Sunset does. Food is average and slightly pricey, but still a cool place to hang out and watch the game with some buddies, as they have lots of TVs around the bar.

Large bar in the center of the room with seating of about 50-60. Booths and tables surrounded the bar with maybe seating for another 120. Abstract paintings where over the booths (fish and George Washington busts????) Stainless steel counter top. Bunch of flat screen TV's above taps showing sports. Where we were seated we could only see a number of large tubes running to the ceiling, when we left we noticed the tubes went into the keg room where you could see all the kegs that were tapped through a glassed wall.

Bartender's were prompt and helpful but had a little knowledge of beer.

100 plus selection to choose from on draft. Most were good, had about dozen sections from the BMC. Notables were Wachusett Larry, Smuttynose Big A IPA, Left Hand Milk Stout, Apt 12...

Food was good.

Price was right for the time frame we were there. Half of appetizers and they offer shorty glass (8oz I think) which was perfect for all the selections that they have.

Nice place to grab a number of good craft brews and food.

Been here several time over the past few years it's been open, mostly with my family.

Located in a very busy mall, the place is usually PACKED. If you come here on a Friday or Saturday night, expect a mob scene and quite a bit of a wait.

Sleek, ultra-clean atmosphere. Classic rock being played at a reasonable level. Plenty of flat screens showing sports. I dig.

Servers always extremely prompt and friendly, though in a borderline corporate way. Not a ton of beer knowledge, but that's OK.

As is obvious, the selection is huge. No esoteric or geeky options, just alot of mainstream craft flagships. On the negative side, the beers are served a bit too cold and samples cost $1 if you're sitting @ the bar (BOOO!)

I always hear YH's menu being compared perjoratively to the Cheesecake Factory, as if that's such a horrible thing? Hell, I'll take consistent quality food from the YH's kitchen over what some of these beer palace "gastropubs" are putting out nowadays. And I'll admit the food is a tad pricey too.

As I mentioned, I come here with my kids and they are always welcomed here. Good options for them too.

I'm always satisfied when I visit here and return semi-regularly.

Been to this place a few times now.

It's hard ot review this place because I don't understand their focus. Are they trying to be a beer mecca or just a decent restaurant with a large tap selection? Since their tagline is about beer, I'll assume the former. Here goes...

For a place that touts themselves as some sort of beer mecca, the space does not cater to that. I would love to see couches, a lounge, or at least some tables set aside for just enjoying a brew, where people could try a few different beers without feeling forced to buy food. The ambiance is a little generic, bustling, a little cold.

The bar sits in the middle of the space and there’s little room between the chairs at the bar and dinner tables. So, if you can’t get a seat at the bar (and you probably won’t if you’re there at dinner time), it’s very difficult to just stand and have a brew without being in the way of staff.

The place is always jammed with people who’ve been shopping at the mall, or are eating before/after their movie (movie theater is right next door). I don’t think most people in the restaurant seem to care much about the beer offerings. You get the sense they’re just there because they need a meal and they happen to be at the mall or the movies. I may be wrong…but that’s my gut sense as I look around. And to each his own...

The beers… yes, they have a lot. 100+ taps (112 I think). It's an example of why quantity is not always better. It suffers from some problem that I think the Sunset Grille in Allston suffers. Too many beers (half of them boring) and often kegs are kicked forcing you to pick a 2nd, 3rd, 4th option with hilarity. A chunk of the taps are taken up by BMC products. The craft selection is fairly run-of-the mill. There’s not much there I haven’t had before (I know I don’t represent the masses in that respect), but it’s still nice selection of brews to choose from and I enjoy being able to get, say, Founders, on tap, which is not common in these parts. My main beef with this place is how they serve their beer…

1) It’s served way too cold. When you order a quad/belgian, you shouldn’t have to warm it up with your hands first for 30 minutes before the flavor arrives.

2) I never get a head on my beer, and that’s crucial for some of the higher end stuff like St. Bernardus, Karmeliet, etc. But it should be required for every beer.

3)They don’t often use proper glassware. You will get a chalice for your Bernardus12, or G.I. Matilda, but other than that, they primarily use pint glasses (with a rare tulip seen). Not the end of the world, but don’t expect exceptional glassware usage like you’d see at a real beer bar (i.e. the Publick House or American Craft.)

Food is fine. The sandwhiches I’ve had were fairly tasty. The ribs do not “fall off the bone”, but they have a delicious sauce. All in all, it’s a restaurant with fairly above-average pub food that happens to have a large beer list. What it is not, is a place for beer geeks.

I still recommend seeing it for yourself if you’re in the area, but it’s not worth going out of your way for. I go back from time to time simply because I live 2 minutes from it and it's convenient. But if I lived closer to Deep Ellum or the Publick House I'd go there. Those places may have fewer beers, but the selection is more exciting, and they serve beers properly.

You can't complain with the tap list.

Yard House in Dedham certainly maintains its reputation as a fabulous beer bar. A huge bar with a chorus of tap handles fills the center of this pub: certainly a site to behold.

I have visited several Yard Houses in California; this was my first in the Boston area. As I expected, and true to chain-restaurant form, the Dedham branch was no different (excepting a few local beers) than any of the branches I frequented in California. The restaurant had a stale atmosphere, nothing graced the walls, and I felt as though I could have been in an Applebees, TGI Fridays, or any other major chain restaurant. To its credit, there were a lot of HD TVs filling up every corner of the tavern, and I was able to get a seat at the bar directly in front of one of the several TVs.

The service was good and fast, but it was impossible to get to know the bartenders. There were about five bartenders working this particular Sunday night, and, considering the bar sat at least 50 and the rest of the restaurant was packed, they were worked to death pouring beer. I can hardly blame them for an inability to bond with their patrons, but it certainly detracts from the "bar experience." Regardless of whether you want to sit at the bar or at a booth, expect a wait if you come anytime after 5 pm.

The Yard House does beer and food very well. The tap lines are in impeccable shape and both beers I ordered tasted fresh and clean. Every meal I have had at a Yard House (I had the Mac & Cheese at the Dedham branch) has been very nicely done and tremendously enjoyable.

Based on the beer selection and the quality of food, it is hard not to recommend the Yard House. If you're looking for an overwhelming tap list and you're on the south side of Boston, this is a great spot. If you're looking for a place with character, however, you're better off driving a couple more miles into the city.

first time ever going to the yard house, and the wife and i were not disappointed. aside from it being located in the back of yet another enormous shopping plaza, it was a rather enjoyable experience. we were instantly drawn to the bar with taps galore surrounding the middle. lots of local stuff and BMC, but also tons of unusual suspects that you dont normally see. we were instanty IDd as soon as we hit the bar, and that was that.
we had a nice selection of beer, including wachusett larry, founders reds rye, and ithaca cascazilla, amongst others.
the food was actually delicious, we each had burgers. bacon bbq cheddar burger, and hawaiian pineapple burger... the buns were awesome, and burgers cooked perfectly. i wont lie, if i get a perfectly cookef burger somewhere, i automatically give points, but the good beer only contributed. excellent experience!

I have been to the Yard House in Dedham, MA a couple of times and I have a good overall experience each time.

There is a large selection of beers on tap-I believe over a hundred. I tried a belgian IPA the last time I was there and it took me a few minutes to make my selection due to the extensive beer menu.

The service was good and the food was also very good with a large diverse menu. Since I am a vegetarian, it was nice to see a vegetarian section on the menu.

Due to the large beer selection, good service, and good food-I would recommend checking out the Yard House.

Placed in the suburban paradise of Legacy Place, amongst uppity shops and boutiques, and kiddy cornered with the extra lux Showcase Cinemas, this place will be around for some time.

The atmosphere I can only describe as idustrial, modern, meets the chessecake factory. Very interesting decor. Large circular bar occupies the center. Seating around the edges. Think Boston Beer Works minus all the sport themed furnishings. It is a large chain, so no cozy pub feel, which I think is contradictory to the name. Large tap-line on either side of bar. Reminiscent of Sunset Grille.

Selection is huge. Good mix of American IPAs, Belgians, Fruit beers, Pale Ales, British imports, etc., and other world selections. Beer menu is organized by style, with food pairing suggestions listed on the side. Beer is poured into appropriate glassware. I ordered a Saint Bernardus Abt. 12 and it was in a tulip.

Service was prompt and friendly. Food was delicious but a bit pricey. Think 15-30 dollar plates. Our pizza was 15 bucks.

A good place to bring the family and also enjoy a good craft brew, or to induct someone into the world of craft beer.

The Yardhouse I will concede is good for craft beer. However, it is a better place for those who are just getting started or not local than those that are full throttle. It also does not help that Boston has some great beer bars where you can find extraordinary beer. Put this place in some other locations I have lived and it would be revolutionary. Sure it has over 115 taps. However a good 30 of those are macro. Most of what is there is fairly easy to get locally: Newcastle, Guiness...etc. As a beer geek, the only section that really appealed to me as stuff I could not find easily was the Belgian section. Yardhouse is still fairly new so on a Friday night, it was way busy and appeared to cater to the date scene and 20 somethings. There were other groups there as well. The atmosphere had a big corporate hall feeling with tons of tables, tvs, and a centralized bar. The food was expensive and overly salted. I did not care for it for the price. The service though was good, helpful and attentive.

I like how something new and beer positive is going up in Dedham. This is a great place to spend a night and never have the same brew twice. It is also great if you are new into beer or have a finicky drinker. However, as a South Shore beer geek, there are just too many other options around Boston for me to plan another trip anytime soon.

We went to Legacy Place this evening in the midst of a torrential downpour. Heavy rains were falling this Memorial Day weekend as we waited for the rain to pass and on we went to the Yard House.

Very restaurant chain-like feel and a very spacious environment at that. A somewhat industrial atmosphere, yet a very clean and organized place. The bar area is centered and there are a ton of tables & chairs and booths. We got a pretty sweet booth and I eagerly glanced over the draft beer menu.

Expect something like 120+ drafts. All of the tap handles decorating the inside interior of the bar area sure does look appealing.

Anyways, on to the draft selection with highlights that include Bear Republic Red Rocket Ale, Racer 5, Green Flash Hop Head, Oskar Blues Old Chub & Dale's Pale Ale, DFH Indian Brown Ale, 60 Minute IPA, 90 Minute IPA, Rogue Hazlenut Brown, Fuller's ESB, Anchor Porter, Stone Smoked Porter, Stone IPA & Arrogant Bastard, St. Bernardus Abt 12, Tripel Karmeliet, Smuttynose IPA, Long Trail Double Bag, Delerium Tremens and Piraat Ale.

I am quite surprised at the low ratings this place has received thus far on BA for their beer selection. C'mon now, there are some tasty brews here!

I was more than pleased at the options and enjoyed a delicious St Bernardus Abt 12 served in appropriate glassware. I think the St Bernardus was $7.50 which is totally reasonable with me for such a wonderful beer.

Food was solid. We ordered the Lobster, Crab & Artichoke Dip for an appetizer and the Roasted Turkey Melt. Everything we had to eat was tasty.

The service was good, no complaints. I was surprised at how many people were working here. This place clearly gets busy during the weekend.

There was some hype to live up to when the sign outside stats the "Worlds Largest Selection of Draft Beer." It was a busy Mother's day so there was just a few tables open but the wait was short considering. I spied a look at the car in the center of the restaurant and saw the amount of beer taps that were to be had. Not the largest amount of beer taps I had seen before but I still reserved judgment till I saw the beer list I was hoping for some hard to find beers on tap and did in fact find a few I don't normally see in places in the area but not what I was expecting from the sign out front. I had a Green Flash since it was once of the only brewers on the list I hadn't had and it turned out pretty damn good. The staff was friendly and helpful but a little preoccupied. The food was great with a bit of this and that. The burger I got was really good and cooked just the way I liked it. The best place for a craft beer drinker in the area at least. Worth a try.

My boyfriend and I decided to make the short drive from Boston to Dedham to check out the "Worlds Largest Selection of Draft Beer" that the Yard House has to offer. It was a sunny afternoon, so we decided to sit outside on the patio, which was very nice and comfortable. Plus, we had a great people watching perch, as the Yard House is tucked in tightly amongst the shops of the Legacy Place Mall. The food was good, but the fries were extremely disappointing (come on, everyone knows you have leverage with how good your fries are!). The atmosphere almost felt like a glorified TGIF's with a good beer menu - a bit too "chainy" feeling. I was not impressed with the fact that my boyfriend and I had our ID's checked by a total of 3, that's right, 3 different servers. One time, expected. Two times, that's fine, but please get me my beer. Three times, really, do you REALLY need to have your manager check my ID? Despite the excessive ID checking, our server was awesome - she was very attentive. Even with our table being tucked away in the corner of the patio, she never neglected to ask how we were doing.

One thing to keep in mind if going to the Yard House is be expecting to make a dent in your wallet. My boyfriend and I each had 2 beers and sandwiches. Total bill was just shy of $60. The other thing that did not tickle my fancy was that they don't list the prices of their beer or the ABV on the menu. I know that all I've done in this review is listed all the bad things about this place without touching upon the good. But honestly, the only thing that will make me go back to the Yard House is the selection of draft beer, but I probably will stick with the beer and maybe get an appetizer instead of a meal. Perhaps I'll bring my passport next time in hopes that it'll lower the amount of times my ID get's scrutinized.
