Not a bad beer store. What is impressive is there single section is refrigerated - beat that other booze stores! Decent selection for the area, slightly more expensive than their largest competitor in town however. I like that this place puts an emphasis on craft beers, and puts the BMC stuff on the far end of the beer coolers. Way to go! I love this place, this staff is ok, couple of attractive ladies and nice dudes. The owner is nice, and goes out of his way to help anyone. Too bad they don't have a slightly larger selection, especially of German/Belgian ales, otherwise they'd be the best in Lawrence.

REFRIGERATED SINGLE BOTTLES! And a lot of them! Selection is exceptional, at least as good as the two other great bottle shops in town (Mass Beverage and the Cork and Barrel on 23rd and Iowa). Will usually discount one of the local brews done by the fabulous Free State brewery.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, was recommended several great stouts during a 15 minute conversation while the employee was restocking. Plus you get some free candy at the register!
A must visit if you are looking for bottles/cans in Lawrence.

Lawrence is lucky to get another liquor store in that town that has as strong of a beer selection as possible. And it's nice that this place is on Mass St, with plenty of parking. They have the best single bottle selection in town, due in part to the fact that they are refrigerated! That means a lot to me, as I typically am scared away from room temp, dusty singles found in other stores. From what I can tell, they carry every brand of beer I've seen in the state. In addition, the staff has been friendly and helpful each time I've gone in, which is so refreshing compared to places like Cork & Barrel and Alvin's. I think On the Rocks edges out Mass Bev and Cork & Barrel (at 23rd) due to the fact that they have more beers being kept refrigerated and the staff has been consistently nicer. Definitely recommended!

Was stopping in on a recent trip to the parents house in Eudora, a small car trip from Lawrence and KU. I had emailed OTR to ask if they carried a couple different brews from the midwest and the service online was excellent. Very helpful and prompt online.
Qual- Has a very nice location and the items stocked on the shelf rival those I see here in CA at the A+ stores in my area.
Service- Like I said, nicely done customer service and prompt replies were one reason I came to shop here.
Selection. Big single bottle collection which is huge for me. Hate to buy six packs. A very nice collection in the GIANT walk in cooler as well.
Value- I got some good beers for what I was expecting to pay. One was about $3 more in KS than CA but such is life.
Nice place to visit in KS if you get the chance.

I work here, and have never enjoyed working somewhere more. The owners and managers are really nice, and the emphasis we place on customer service is nothing like I've seen in any other Lawrence liquor stores, and I've looked around pretty hard. The giant walk-in beer cave is my favorite place to work, especially when it comes to beating the summer heat.
As the resident beer expert, I make sure that we get all of the best beers available to us, as well as taking customer requests to get anything we don't have readily available. We have the lowest prices on beers in town. We also have a large selection of wine & spirits.
I know that my working here makes me biased, but I'm not a manager, and the owner didn't put me up to this. As a happy employee I can testify that I put my heart and soul into making this the best liquor store I can possibly make it. I only hope I can do enough to make it worthy of BA respect.

A newer store and close to downtown on Mass Street. Large store and better situated than Mass Bev out south of town. Many cooler doors in the back filled with good stuff. A walk in cooler is nice on a hot/humid day. The warm beer section is nice and consists of one aisle, both sides. Selection is impressive and nicely arranged. The price on Old Rasputin was unbelievable to me (7.99/4pack) and almost bought them all. Found some splits of Dupont and many bottles of Hoppin Frog stuff.
Staff was friendly and one dude loved beer.
I checked out the wine section a bit, it seemed ok.
Very nice spot...best in Lawrence I think.
EDIT: The cooler is more filled with singles (from 6pks) than anything else. Bomber selection is still warm, would like to see these in the cooler some where. Walk-in cooler is nice, but not necessarily a must see. The bombers are not there either

Considering the alcohol laws in Kansas, they do very well with the selections that are available. I have turned into a "regular" here. Their selection is simply one of, if not the best in Lawrence. The selection of singles available to make your own 6'er is what keeps me coming back. I've been to Mass Beverage recently and their selection just doesn't compare IMO.
The price is very reasonable. The staff at On The Rocks is over-the-top nice and very helpful. Lawrence is lucky to have such a quality craft beer retailer!

From the day this place opened I knew that the best beer store in Lawrence had shifted locations. Jensen's and the Cork & Barrel on 6th has been usurped by this mega-liquor-opolis. In fact, prices and selection at Cork & Barrel has changed to keep up with On the Rocks. Who knew Larryville beer drinkers were that picky, quick, and fickle?
Kansas has made great strides widening the diversity of beers distributed, at least in the eastern third of the state. On the Rocks is a great example of this, as each week has brought more and more variety amongst and within breweries. Special one-offs, Colorado, and what we can get from the West Coast are the focus of domestics. Imports are limited and we'll see about turnover. Luckily, as a college town we probably have a fair share of adventurous drinkers.
Should mention that the staff is bend-over-backwards friendly, quiet the opposite of most liquor stores in this town where the staff is kept to the barest minimum possible and kept busy by a TV, stereo, or text messaging.
