These guys are paving the way for beer selection in the state of West Virginia, definitely guys who are interested in tasting and selling these types of beers they are carrying most of what is offered in West Virginia at this time. They would benefit by getting Rogue brews up in the northern panhandle. The store is a bit rough it's down on Wheeling Island but I was okay with going in to checkout the beer selection, I walked away with Breckenridge Extra ESB and Harpoon Imperial Red. They also had everything they can currently get from Great Lakes, Sierra Nevada, Chimay, Breckenridge, Harpoon, and more labels than that. Right now there's just not many craft brewer's coming into the state but these guys are carrying one of the best selections thus far. When in the are I will buy beer here, but no more destination trips for me, it's not worth the trip down to Wheeling when I can go the Burgh or Boardman and get a world class selection.

(Visited 10/2011): Smoker Friendly is located right off I-70 north of Wheeling on S. Huron. There is a small private lot to the side of the building, plus some nearby street parking.
The interior is spacious and well-lit with the beer being located in the rear of the store.
Smoker Friendly’s beer selection is decent for West Virginia. It includes domestic craft brewers such as Great Lakes, Sierra Nevada, Yuengling, Rogue and Duquesne. There are some imports from Germany, the UK and Belgium too.
Staff is friendly for the most part but given the area and convenience store nature of the place I did not have high expectations.
Overall this is an okay spot to stop, although they really do not have anything that most better grocery stores carry these days.

A quick note, I think it is important to know that I'm grading this place in comparison to other shops in Wheeling, and the whole state of West Virginia for that matter. No, this place won't really stack up to what Columbus has to offer, but its more than enough to get me through a long weekend back home.
Located on a side street on the south end of Wheeling Island. The south end is quite notorious around these parts. Simply put, its trashy. Luckily this shop has its own little parking lot, but there is no shortage of parking anywhere in Wheeling. The outside of the shop doesn't look like much, and frankly doesn't look inviting. Its plastered in those cigarette and beer sale signs, like every other liquor store around.
Inside is much nicer though. Its clean and very well organized. Its much bigger than I expected as well.
The place is mostly liquor, and lots of it. I spent quite some time in the bourbon isle and noticed how much significantly cheaper liquor is in WV than it is in Columbus. Off the top of my head, it seemed like some bottles of decent bourbon (e.g. Elijah Craig, Woodford Reserve and Knob Creek) looked to be up to $20 a bottle cheaper! Bourbons were as low as $12 per 750ml bottle. This put me in high hopes for cheap beer.
The beer is way at the back. A few cooler doors, mostly filled with cases and cases of Bud and Miller. No surprise there. There were some cold craft six packs, Sierra Nevada, Great Lakes, Sam Adams, and a few other, but they were low in numbers. The good beer is all on two shelves that mirror each other. Chimay 750s and 4 packs, even a Chimay gift set. Lots of Great Lakes. The Lake Erie Monster 4 packs looked like they were moving pretty well. Lots of Rogue bombers (you don't know how nice it is to see bombers at a store in Wheeling.) Also lots of those stupid little Rogue tiny bottles. Samuel Smith is well represented and there were some hefe's like Franziskaner.
The people working there were nice (and clean, thank god). I was asked by both of them if I needed any help. The guy who rang me up made small talk.
This is a great store for Wheeling. I think its really only limited by the state's poor distribution.

Was in the area so i stopped in to check this place out. Pretty much a macro shop loaded with bud, busch and miller. There selection of micros included a ton of rouge beers, all avaible great lakes beers, sierra nevada and breckenridge, harpoon and even a few bottles of chimay. Prices were great for the great lakes and reasonable for everything else. I was only in there for about 5 minutes and was asked by two different people if i was looking for anything. The place had tobacco products there also along with liquir and wines. A fine place for locals to run in and get what they need, but no reason for me to go back. Would love to see them expand and get in alot more beers, this area really needs a place for that.

The Smoker Friendly now has quite a selection
of Rogue Beers, both in 6 packs, and 22 Oz Bottles, including the porcelain bottles. They sold out a lot of the 22oz bottles, but have restocked, and have some that weren't there when they started handling Rogue, including their Northwest Ale, Chipotle Ale, and Imperial Pilsner. The prices aren't bad, starting at $5.98 for the 22 oz bottles to $9.99 for the 6er's. Also, they have the best prices in Wheeling for Great Lakes Beers, all running $7.65 a 6er., and they carry the whole GL line, unlike other places in Wheeling, such as Kroger and Riesbeck's.
