This area is rapidly becoming non-seedy. This pub is typical Rogue. A distinct place. Just west of the trendy Pearl district and an easy walk from Powells Books are the street car. So no need to drive if you can stay at a hotel on light rail or street car.
Just an old commercial building with Rogues pub touches. I've found the service super. My choice for fresh Rogue is to drive three hours to Newport or two hours to Portland. I do both depending on my schedule and needs. During the 15th Anniversary, this pub had cases of brew that Newport did not. And this is were the Rum comes from.
I've foudn good deals on new Rogue brews and close-out here. Rob Pils was one that I enjoy. And of course the Stout selections. And of course Dead Guy is always available if you can't htink of something else to drink.
While I'm sure there are times the service is slow. I have had great service every time I've stopped. In March, I was over on a business trip and needed to get a bottle of rum. The perosn I was with agreed to wait in the truck zone with the car while I ran in. The beer tender undeerstood and quickly took care of me, even though she had other customers waiting at the bar.
The Manager helped me find some of the 15th Anniversary beers for my recent 35th Beer Day Celebration. That helped fill out the selection so that my guests could sample all 11 bottled products. These are great beer people.

Dropped by on a visit to Portland and grabbed a quick bite but ended up staying longer and sampling several beers. The bartender was beyond friendly and mixed some coffee into a hazelnut beer to convince my wife to try which she did and enjoyed. Just stay away from that crazy bacon maple donut beer. Just walk over to voodoo donuts and get the real deal..
