Lambickx Kriek (6.50% ABV, Lambic-Fruit) Label: Lambic ale with cherries added. Number of bottles: 9867 bottles. Brew Year: 2011. Bottle Year: 2013. 750 mL bottle. Caged and corked.
Appearance- Pours up about two fingers' worth of head which dissipates quickly. The head is a light rosy pink while the body is a effervescent maroon/crimson which appears as a pale strawberry/maroon in the light. No lacing.
Nose- Strong fruity notes. Cherry, strawberry with some tart apple. A good amount of acetic acid. Some tartness to cherry and strawberry as well. Swirling reveals more of the same. Not that complex but has amazing presence.
Taste- Large tartness with very full cherries. Acetic acid forward. Nice crispy dry finish. Some strawberry and tart apple as expressed by the nose but mostly full and delicious cherries. Reminds me a lot of cherry pie. The cherry is very sweet and tends toward a pleasant syrup or jaminess. Tastes better than Cantillon Kriek but doesn't have the exquisite and airy mouthfeel of that beer. Nice cherry linger. Some notes of plum. I can see individual palates getting almost any kind of red fruit from this beer. Very clean and crisp. It may not show much more complexity than the multiple fruit notes but that doesn't matter. The presence, balance, and integration of this beer are amazing. The acetic acid gives slight hints of straw, funk, and grass which work well with the dry, neat finish. I would really like to see what this is like with some age on it. The cherries are very deep and fleshy.
Mouthfeel- Between light and medium bodied with lots of syrup and juice. Carbonation gives this beer a nice effervescence and makes my tongue tingle.
Drinkability- Very easy going. Clean, neat, crisp, and refreshing. It's pricy at 25 bucks a pop but I would willingly pay it again.
Overall- Really good beer, pretty much great. If it had a mouthfeel on par with Cantillon's, this would be close to a 5 beer. Yes, it's that good and is a great substitute for the elusive Loons. I will buying more (probably one to age and another which will make an excellent 30th birthday gift for a sour loving friend of mine.

Been sitting on this one for as long as I can stand it, and must say it has been well worth the wait. The fun begins with the pour. A purple brew with cherry hues finishes with a bubbly, dirty white froth. Aroma is strong and complex with prominent notes of overripe, sour cherry, black grape and vinegar. Taste is just as involving as the smell and revolves around big notes of tart cherry, burnt sugar and a pie crust yeastiness. Faint notes of vinegar linger in the aftertaste. Light to medium in body and so light and clean from start to finish. Now I'm sad I have no more Lambick X:(

this is elite level kriek, far superior to anything else i have had from these guys, any of the lambickx blends, by a mile! not sure how this works, if they buy krieks and blend them or if they add the cherries themselves, still trying to sort out exactly how these guys roll, but in any event, this is superior to a great many famous kriek types i have had. the color of this is pure brick red crayon, and it has far more head than a lot of these do, way more lively than their straight lambics! awesome cherry nose, the best of fresh black and tart cherries right from the tree, and a more concentrated and refined almost medicinal cherry, sweet enough to taste natural and no more, with layers coming one after the next of pucker from the fruit and funk from the lambic, which tastes incredibly mature and also has a medicinal iodine sort of element about it, minor flattering oxidation, and a woody wet basement mustiness that gives this a wonderful complexity. as much cherry in this as almost any other lambic i can think of, so honest and so saturated, tangy but not too acidic that i cant drink an entire large format to my head, which i did, and enjoyed every drop! this seems like it should cost more than it does, not sure whose lambic these use as a base, but its so pro, easily my favorite of their offerings so far, and i hope to track this down again. tons and tons of funk, wood, and fruit, its vinous and ancient and perfect. world class kriek! unforgettable beer.

Pours a deep blood red with medium haziness and a thick fluffy rosé head. Aroma smells of plum, rose petals, sweet cherry and the classic lambic buteric acid. Flavor starts slow then builds to a sweet, tart tangy fruitless that lingers around. This kriek is in a class of its own due to its uniqueness...but it is darn tasty.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy red color Lambic with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma of tart cherry notes with some oak and funky ester. Taste is a nice mix of tart cherry notes with some oak and vinous notes and some funky barnyard notes and limited acidity. Body is full with good carbonation. I was anticipating much but I was pleasantly surprised by the balance and complexity of this beer.
