A: Pours a pale gold with a slight hint of haze and a thin white head. Once the beer settles in the glass, a tremendous amount of effervescence can clearly be seen. Very active and lively.

S: Interesting to say the least. Aromas of tea, ginger, pepper, lemon, must, and barnyard funk are present on the nose. Smells like no other beer of which I can think.

T: Tart and funky with notes of lemon, unripened grapes, gooseberries, must, salty brine, tea, pepper, minerals, and ginger. The finish is spicy and salty with tea notes blending with citrus and lactic, funky yeast flavors.

M: Light bodied, spritzy, and very dry. Almost chalky on the palate. It feels odd, but is very drinkable.

O: I'm not really certain how to rate this beer. It's unlike anything I've had before. That being said, it is an intriguing and mostly enjoyable brew that is obviously crafted with care. I'd have no problem buying this again.

75cl bottle poured into several tulip glasses. A big thanks to Tony for opening up this beer late into a great May tasting.

It pours a hazy golden straw with a bright white head that lasts for a while.

The smell is one of the most interesting things to pass over my nose. While I've had a lot of lambics and drank a lot of tea I am completely unfamiliar with kombucha but very interested. This smells just like it should. It's as if a straight lambic and a black tea got mixed 50/50. It's almost impossible to grade it according to a style but it's totally up to personal preference. In this case I'm all over this blend.

The taste is an intense grapefruit/lemon tart and sourness. There is just a ton of lemon taste to this beer. The tea influence then becomes noticeable. This beer just is the most interesting mindfuck of a beer I've ever had. These two fermented beverages blend perfectly in my mind and I absolutely love this beer and think this isn't the last you see of beer and kombucha blended together.

Gold straw with moderate amounts of visible carbonation. Leaves the glass fairly clean.

Lots of mustard seed in the aroma, along with bright, earthy, pepper character, grass, and a touch of pickle. Some acid as well. I really like the way this smells. It may not sound that good on paper, but it really comes together. Very bright and fresh aromas.

The flavor is similarly successful as the aroma, perhaps even more so. Lots of the mustard seed, pepper, and pickle character is well, and it comes together in a very refreshing, bright, quenching fashion. Some grass and some acidic sour character. Lots of kambucha flavor.

Thinner bodied with moderate carbonation.

Fantastic. This is an incredibly successful and delicious experiment.

A- This beer has a light hazy orange body with a huge carbonation of big bubbles with some dark brown floaties at the surface. The soapy white head has a fizzy sound when pouring and the head doesn't last very long.
S- The soft lactic sourness gives way to some notes of dried leaves but otherwise it is a pretty clean aroma.
T- This beer has a pleasant tartness with a mineral water taste with some soft lemon and tea notes in the finish. Tehre is a minty flavor that grows as the beer warms and a soft cheese rind that lingers. There are some grapefruit notes that grow with the tartness as the beer warms.
M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a tight fizz in the finish. D- This beer has a nice tartness that is a bit light like a sweet-tart candy more so as the beer warms. The tea blends nicely with the lambic and it will make a great beer in warm weather.

Poured a cloudy yellow body with abundant, effervescent carbonation bubbles and a one finger bubbly head. Overall impression of appearance is of a nice lambic in color, perhaps a bit too much carbonation for an unblended lambic, but quite on point for a Geuze. Scents of funky barnyard yeast, a bit of a smokey and enteric quality, which while usually demerits for a lambic are not unpleasant here, though these aromas fade quickly, replaced by light fruity, including citrus and apple, hints of honey, light hints of tea and mild honey aromas. Overall impression of aroma is of a sour ale that is quite nice, sour, wild, barnyard and fruity combine nicely to form a good aroma profile. Flavor begins highly sour with notes of barnyard funk, Kombucha tea, light lemon juice and light green apple. Middle is still sour, with notes of tea, Kombucha tea and barnyard funk with notes of hay. Finish is tart and somewhat dry with notes of hay, Kombucha tea, tea leaves and light green apple. Aftertaste is tart with notes of Kombucha tea, green tea and light fruity flavors. Overall impression of flavor is of a very funky, barnyard-forward sour with a very apparent Kombucha flavor also present. Unique and quite pleasant and refreshing. Mouthfeel is light bodied with high carbonation and a tart, puckering feel. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a light, highly carbonated sour that is quite refreshing. Overall this is a nice beer. Perhaps a bit too simple in flavor, but its aroma makes up for that, and the flavor is still quite nice. A good, refreshing beer and an interesting version of a lambic.

Puckering sour yet fun, thanks for sharing Americo. Definitely some mushroom and rope with vinegar. Strong fruit and wild yeast aromas. Cloudy peach colour with a nice small head. For tart fans only, and even then a few ounces is all I could tolerate.

Immense thanks as always to ShogoKawada for sending on the goodies. Poured from a 750mL bottle into my Drie Fonteinen tumbler.

Jonquil body with a big active papaya whip head that recedes to a fine lasting collar and faint isles of surface slick.

Pungent kambocha tartness in the nose, joined with a cellar-like aroma with attic/cobwebs/penicillin. Strongly aromatic - paving the way for a flavor bomb.

Lemon, kiwi, raspberry seeds, and sourdough on the palate. Simple but enveloping. No hops that I can detect, as you would expect I suppose. Tart throughout with a mild funk into the finish. Extremely refreshing with hints of lychee in the aftertaste.

Light bodied, crisp, and spritzy...though faintly oily as well.

I didn't think this combination would work as well as it does - the elements of both beverages are largely preserved and retain their own qualities while the combination is quite distinctive and ingenious. I generally hate when brewers really mess with tradition, but it's hard to find fault with this one.

A: golden almost orange with as quickly as the white head rises, it falls.
S: barnyard funk, lemon, sour tart apple, and should be no surprise - kombucha tea.
T: most unique beer I've ever tasted! Lemon, apple, kombucha tea, pepper, as mentioned in previous reviews- like a berliner weisse
M: thin body with little to no carbonation and just like a geuze,leaves your mouth watering for more
O: very interesting beer and at 3.5% very sessionable. The drinkability is exceptionally easy. Could drink this all day!

Golden body and thin white head.

Incredibly potent sour, kombucha/lambic nose with a trace of ginger. Serious funk.

Sour and acidic, but decently balanced. Light in body and taste, and the finish is not too lingering. Tastes more like kombucha than beer.

Airy and foamy.

Decent beer. Not worth the price but kombucha is expensive to begin with.

Appearance - Big head atop a clear yellow body. Nice retention.

Smell - Smells like pickles. Nasty.

Taste - Tastes like pickles, but doesn't taste as bad. Cleaner sour. Slight malt presence.

Mouthfeel - Light, sour. Good carbonation.

Overall - Really kinda gross. Not the worst I've had though.

Pours a whitish pale straw color, very similar to a wit, more of a pale peach color actually. The head is spritzy and short lived; settles quickly into a light ring.

The aroma is of a tart lemon, green apple and perhaps a hint of white grapefruit. There is a spice note that I imagine come from the tea. The aroma is very fruity and vibrant.

The taste is of tart grape skins, light apple skin, lemon and a touch of vinegar. The beer is very spritzy so it seems that the beer loses its flavor a bit. I pick up some pepper spice from the tea but not much else.

This sucker is very carbonated; spritzy is the perfect word. The beer is tart on the palate and finishes dry. Great to cleanse the palate.

A nice tart beer and quite refreshing. The flavor is a tad lacking and is one dimensional. Definitely worth a try.

another fun beer enjoyed in an awesome tasting with aasher. Poured in a New Belgium snifter with virtually no foam head and an apricot color.

wreaks of a sour ale with no real hop character. Lemon rind is on the nose and it pretty much bottoms out after that

Extremely tart like a sour without any floral hops. Very smooth. If I was sitting at the pool i could drink this all day.

The initial hit on the palate is very tart with lemon and slight caramel, but it bottoms out very fast just like the smell

The most important part about this beer is that my girlfriend would drink it all day and i could as well.

Served into a New Holland tulip glass, there were a few juice-like bubbles that formed and quickly dissipated. The first pour had bright clarity, and the second was hazed slightly with yeast. Color was a brilliant golden orange in the light. A different bottle I had later had a fluffy head of bone white foam that rose above the rim of the glass.

Aroma seemed to change as it warmed, initially served cold there was a certain Lambic-derived lemon zest, with a dose of minerally dampness. Toward the end of the glass it resembled the kombucha more, with cider vinegar traces, and funky washed rind cheese. Musky, almost footy, but not overpowering.

Fairly tart, extremely dry in the end which was pleasant. Lemon and lime zest, clean and light bodied. Spritzy carbonation, again very light and quenching, almost seltzery. The funky aroma manifested itself late, and didn't really come through in the taste. A whole bottle would be no problem for anyone into sour ales.

This is probably the best Lambic based product to come out of De Troch, though i've never tried their Cuvee Chapeau Gueuze.

Bottle: Poured a light hazy golden color lambic with a medium size bubbly head with minimal retention and not much lacing. Aroma of tart notes with light funky notes. Taste is refreshing with easy drinking tart notes with some light funky notes. Kombucha tea was harder to detect. Body was about average with good carbonation. Nice refreshing drink for summer with just the right amount of complexity.

Poured from a corked and caged 750 mL bottle into a Brewer's Art goblet. Moderate hand. No clear date seen.

A: Pale, golden yellow body with surprising clarity off the top. 1 finger of fizzy, white head that quickly dissipates. Gets murkier as you work down the bottle. No lacing of note.

S: Kombucha tea with musty, fermented notes. Herbal. Grass. Honey.

T: Assertively sour initially with a marked kombucha presence. Becomes rather dry mid-way and closes out as such. Herbal. Lemon. Citric acid. Lingering earthy tea tannins in the aftertaste. No alcohol presence, as expected for 3.5% ABV.

M: Moderate carbonation with a light body. Effervescent and refreshing.

O: Think Berliner weisse plus tea leaves and you're partly there, but mostly this one tastes like kombucha with extra carbonation. Great if you want some kombucha, less great if you want some beer. Admittedly, its beer-like properties grow towards the end of the bottle. And I like kombucha.

Pours out really clear with a slight yellow tint. One finger of white suds and lots of effervescent bubbles keep rising to the top.
Smell is vegetable and lemon. Almost a sour spinach or asparagus. Some sugar and a yeast burn finish this one off in the nose.
Taste is vegetable again with a sour lemon peel added. The tea doesn't come through unless it's the vegetable flavor right before the sour hits.Following are the sugar and spice that really wake up when warmed up.
Mouthfeel is very clean and finishes well. Lambic for sure. Sour is the theme here.
Overall this is a pretty unique sour beer and the abv makes this more of a cider than anything.

Tart, acidic, musty, green apple, grapefruit rind, dry, somewhat cider-like, has all the good characteristics of both a lambic and kombucha.

A beer that blends two of my favourite beverages... I suppose I go into this a little biased.

A: Poured a somewhat hazy straw hue into a Delirium Tremens snifter. A half finger of head formed just above the plimsoll line, more robust than a typical kombucha, yet a little more fizzy and quick to recede than most beers.

S + T: I picked up a bottle of this from two different locations and tried them on separate occasions. I picked up on an almost 'meaty' quality in both, something of an element in the funkiness. It's got a pretty notable barnyard scent, perhaps some hints of lemon spritzer, modest hay and some white-fleshed fruits. The flavour is very similar, with an additional leathery taste.

M + D: Crisp, with an assertive and lightly sparkling carbonation. Like most sour styled beers, it has a very refreshing finish, with a nice hint of dryness, yet not as puckering as some. I found this to be a fantastic beer, and I hope to see other breweries experimenting with this style. In the meantime, I'll be happy with this.

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a thin off white head that completely faded away.
S: There are moderate aromas of the Kombucha tea and lemons in the nose along with some hints of sourness.
T: The flavors in the overall taste are essentially evenly divided between sourness and the tea.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a low amount of carbonation.
O: This beer definitely has a very unique smell and taste. I would definitely try this again if I have an opportunity to do so.

A - crisp, clear pale champagne color with an explosive, white bubbly head that dissipates quickly. Highly carbonated/spritzy.
The beer takes on the appearance of a bubbly cider on following pours as sediment mixes in.

S- herbal medicine and flowery notes with some wet hay funk behind it. Smells a bit like chamomille/ herbal tea, and very, very faintly of echinecea or anise. These smells are faint and balanced - the opposite of overdone or overpowering.

T- tart, lemony upfront and some light funk flavors, very refreshing. Quite dry. Unique. Really does taste like a lambic mixed with kombucha with a bit of herbs thrown in, whether or not herbs are used. Is the Kombucha added to the lambic for carbonation? Very low-alcohol but quite a lot of flavor, which I appreciate. Improves as it warms.

M- thin, light, fairly crisp. highly carbonated. The tartness is mouth-puckering and refreshing.

O- The smell is probably the most intriguing part of the beer. The herbal notes are well-done and subtle. Overall, it's unique, delicate and hard to place. Still, it's not exactly my cup of tea. For the price I paid, I wish I was drinking a regular, funkier gueuze instead. Still, I'm very glad I tried this experiment. I have blended beer and kombucha in my brewing - mostly not very successfully - so I wanted to try this for a long time. I would be happy to brew something like this for refreshment ( with less herbal notes) and I would go through a keg easily over a few weeks. However at $14+tax a bottle, I don't think I can justify the cost very often. Also, I've not seen this beer very often.

Poured from a 750ml. bottle.

Appearance: Pours like ginger ale though the color is more vibrant Small 1-2 finger head but the real show is the hundreds of tiny bubbles racing upwards non-stop.

Smell: Dry tea leaves, minty a bit and mixed with a soapy lemon. Tea really shines.

Taste: Herbal tea right in the middle with a bit of sour citrus. Mint leaves. Some funk but the brewed tea makes itself present.

Mouthfeel: Tiny bit tart at first but ends bone dry. Strong carbonation at first sip.

Overall: Interesting but kind of on the fence. The flavor is mildly one-dimensional but still manages to be good.

Served this 750 mL green bottle in a Tripel Karmeliet glass. No date but I've had this in my cellar since 7/10. The beer was champagne colored and despite a hard pour, there was only a small amount of bubbles which evaporated immediately.

The smell was medicinal. SweetTart candy. Not to forward with the aroma.

The taste was tangy and sour. 7-Up and Pixie Stix. Maybe a hint of powder. Floral. Salt? and faint yeastiness. Lots of candy going on here in the aroma and flavor. Lacking something, maybe it's past it's prime. I would try it again.

The mouthfeel was light with minimal carbonation, only a fine scrubbing prickle in the finish. This one is lacking something, maybe it's past it's prime. I would try it again.

Finally, my first review of an Unblended Lambic! I was lucky enough to find this at Dutch's outside of Cincinnati. It pours a rich and severely cloudy apricot orange in color with a bright white head that quickly dissipated. It smells of tea leaves, honey, and mint. It's a nice threesome and formidable enough. The flavors are pretty subtle and the flavor fades very quickly. It tastes of tea leaves plus a belgian pale plus souring yeasts. The mix is kind of strange and awkward. The finish is so fast you have to ponder what just happened. It has a lightly sour tinge that leaves a leafy, minty flavor behind but like I've said, it's short lived. It drinks a little too light and as I've stated, it finishes fast. It's hard for me to fully endorse. Is it a solid drink? Yes. Is it worth it worth the 8.99 price tag? Also a yes. It's two older styles combined to make an interesting beer. I say go for it.

A-Pours a slightly hazy, pear juice color with a one and a half finger head that quickly dissipates.

S-Smells slightly peppery with some lemon and with an almost Ben-Gay menthol-ly aroma.

T-Tart lemony with a light, cidery quality and finishes dry with very little acidity or bitterness.

M-Very carbonated and prickly in the mouth with a very light body and slight dryness.

D-Pretty drinkable but it's a little one-note in the taste department, with lemon being that one-note. I was also hoping for some more acidity/sourness than is present in this one.

A: Pours a clear pale yellow in color with light amounts of visible carbonation (though it is cloudy when you get to the yeast in the bottom of the bottle). The beer has a finger tall fizzy white head that dissipates to a thin tiny patch in the center of the glass almost immediately. No lacing is observed.

S: Smells of brett and very similar to plain kombucha - lightly funky and lightly sour. There are also some light floral/citrus hints.

T: Very similar to the aroma though I also get some light hints of ginger ale/ginger beer. I feel like the flavor of the kombucha is pretty dominant in this offering, with the brett coming through though not as strongly. There is a very enjoyable lingering citrus tartness/sourness.

M: Light bodied with significant amounts of carbonation. Crisp and effervescent.

O: I really enjoyed this one but I am a regular drinker of kombucha (something that you can definitely tell is an ingredient in this beer). Very light and refreshing, I could drink this one all day long.
