12oz bottle poured into goblet

a- not quite as dark as cola. hints of gold and ruby. one finger very light brown head that completly disapates and leaves no lacing.

s- primarily of roasted malt. dark chocolate.

t- taste is a very mild roasted malt with a tiny bit of dark chocolate. a very good balance of flavor and drinkability in a dark brew.

m- med/light body and carbonation. only slightly watery.

d- excellent drinkability. the mild but interesting flavor anyone can enjoy. and at 4.8% i could see myself enjoying a bunch of this back to back. also not bad for price.

APPEARANCE - dark burgundy body with an off white head

SMELL - pretty neutral

TASTE - savory toasted malt, floral hints

MOUTHFEEL - thin bodied, very smooth

DRINKABILITY / THOUGHTS - Great, I would always keep this at the top of the list.

pours a deep chestnut with quickly dissipating head of off white foam.

aroma is quite like their golden lager (?), with intense herbal, and slightly fruity german hops. there's a faint whiff of some munich, toasty, chocolate-y-ness, but it's faint.

taste- the malt makes a brief appearance in expected german quality, however at a very low volume... subtle. and the hops come back. it's an incredibly light bodied beer. in my opinion it's a tad over-hopped for a dark, but delicious none the less. finishing bright and dry with a slight wine-y fruit note.

mouthfeel- as a german lager, i think it fits the bill. there's a satisfying malt character and beautiful hops on the palate giving it a very refreshing edge but holding back the malt. the beer is well enough balanced overall. i wish it had a tad more oomph in the malt department, but it is what it is.

drinkablility- try this on your friends who claim to not like dark beers. one could pound these all day, refreshing as they are with sophisticated, however slight, malty nuances.. made for the dark beer lover on a very hot beach.

Appearance: Dark cola color, tan head which fades to a creamy layer covering the top of the beer.

Smell: I could grassy malts immedietly when i opened the bottle. Getting closer reveals some roasted malts, also.

Taste: Fairly clean, crisp, with some light cocoa and roasted malt flavors. Malt definitely drives the beer, not much hop presence. Still drinkable and not offensive.

Mouthfeel: Crisp, slightly metallic, fairly good.

Drinkability: A good dark euro lager. Not my favorite style, but a good example of it, in my opinion.

This beer pours a dark color with a moderate head. The aroma is a little sweet with malts and hops in it. The flavor is very smooth. I was thoroughly impressed at this one. It doesn't have a ton of character and it's not very complex, but I thought it was a very enjoyable beer.

A- very dark brown with a nice active tan head.

S- light malt smell with a nice hop aroma.

T- very nice balance, I can taste some chocolate malt with some other malt. At the same time the hops balance it nicely and have their own flavor in the beer.

M- good mouthfeel that invites me to drink more.

D- very good dark lager, I will definately have it again.

This is a good, drinkable dark brown thats easy on the taste. I also thought its alittle thin on body. The tan head & lace are gone quickly (45 sec.) after pour, never to be seen again. Its a good beer to have around if you want the kids to think your drinking a flat cola.

This beer poured out as a nice shade of brown, the head was a little fizzy but still had some left over clumps on top. The smell of the beer had a little bit of the skunky lager aroma going on but was almost hidden by the sweeter malts in the brew. The taste of this brew had good flavor all around. The sweet caramel malts work well with the lager elements. The mouthfeel was pretty good, on the lighter side but had enough body to remain flavorful. Overall I enjoy this beer from time to time. I would pick it over a Becks Dark and a few others out there any day.

This is a beer that I really enjoy, living in a small southern town with no micros this is one of my standbys. Thin head on pour. Color was dark dark copper. Looked beautiful when the light shined through the glass. The taste and mouthfeel are really good, and this is a beer that you probally shouldn't start drinking unless you plan to stay home, because one ins't enough.

this is a dark colored pilsner in my opinion, dark w/ a slight white head; hoppy w/ very faint malt aroma; crisp light taste the hops come through ,slightly malty, just a faint bit watery tho, with it's light body & dryness i believe this beer is quite drinkable.

Pours from the bottle a nice dark brown color with a small head that dissapates rapidly to faint lacing. Smell is kinda sweet and a roasted scent is also dedectable. Mouth-feel for me is real good; not too fizzy but just the right amont of carbonation too let you know your beer isn't flat. Goes down good with a nice rosted malt flavor that leaves a slight afer-taste that wasn't too bad.

For me I enjoyed this brew although it is a little pricey. A good way to treat your-self if you have a few extra bucks in your pocket.

St. Pauli Girl Special Dark
12 oz green bottle
Best before 05.2007
Served in a pilsner glass

Pours a dark chestnut brown. A thin head sustains while leaving trails of sticky lacings.

The nose is malty with a spicy hop flair.

Malty flavors lay the backbone with caramel sweetness and light chocolate tones. German hop snap on the finish. Nice drinkability level and a tad better than I was expecting.

I think I got a petty fresh sample. I've had other St.Pauli Girl products in the past and battled the skunk twang. Not the case here, I finished this beer off rather quickly.

Poured from a 12 bottle to a pint glass the liquid is a nice translucent dark brown with good carbonation. The head is ok a little over on finger, tan and leaves little lace.

The smell is good dark caramel and slightly sweet, malt.

The taste is good as well, Not a rich and taosty as I remember from years ago but not a bad dunkel at all. slightly sweet dark caramel malt with , mild hops to give great balance.

The mouthfeel is off a tad, not quite medium body and a soda pop like carbonation.

The drinkability is ok, not a brew I would buy but not offensive by any stretch. Prosit MK
