st Pauli girl lager 6pk bottles $8.49(OH)
12oz green bottle poured into a pint glass. best before date clearly marked on back label.
pours a pale yellow color, not quite straw yellow. with about a one finger bright white head that doesn't last long. however a very thin layer remains on top and leaves rings of sticky lacing.
honestly there is not much going on with the aroma of this brew. mainly a skunky smell, there may be some noble hops in there but they are hidden.
the taste is light and crispy with a slight taste of apples. the taste of skunk lingers the entire time and masks any hops that could be tasty. the after taste is kind of bitter and leaves the mouth a little dry.
the mouth feel is very light/thin like that of a light beer. the mouth feel is crisp and decent but leaves your mouth dry. i thought this beer was 5.1 not 4.9 ABV. which is not a disappointment but i was surprised.
overall for an imported German brew i was kind of disappointed. since i can get a sixer of hofbrau for only 50 cents more. i am not comparing the two because they are different but i would rather pony up the 50 cents. this is a decent brew, however if i had the choice i would pick a different German import.

330ml bottle into a pint glass.
Pours a clear, deep gold with a soapy one finger white head. No lacing at all and very poor head retention.
Aroma has a distinct metallic twang mixed with skunk. I can just get a whiff of noble hops but they are buried under some bad smells.
Thankfully, the flavor is much better than the aroma. The metal is gone replaced by bread grain and grassy hops with a bit of spice thrown in. There is a little bit of tartness that seems out of place, along with a moderate bitterness and clean finish. The finish isn't super crisp but it isn't bad.
Overall, this beer is ok but just lacks the refinement of some other German pilsners. While the price is good, I would take a Bitburger over this any day.
