30 beers on tap. Hundreds of beers in bottles -- so many that the alphabetical listing on their web page is divided into 5 different links [A-D, E-K ...] so as not to overwhelm the unwary surfer all at once. Papago might be located in the middle of a strip mall, but Famous Sam's it is not.

And back to the tap. There's no artificial inflation here. The draught beers available represent a good portion of Arizona's best microbrews (usually including 3-4 of Papago's own excellent creations), along with a generous sampling of some extremely high quality (and often very difficult to find!) beers from around the world. And since it wouldn't be a truly great brewpub without a few cask-conditioned ales, Papago has 2 of those as well.

The taps rotate frequently, so there are usually several new beers to try every week. The web page lists what's currently on, as well of a calendar of events, of which there are many. Papago is also the only place I've seen to offer regular "beer education" courses, in which students meet once a week to sample, study, and evaluate 5 beers of the evening's style according to the BJCP criteria.

Papago is truly an exceptional establishment. Their own brews are terrific, their selection is terrific, and the staff are all extremely knowledgable about the product. This is easily the best brewpub in the state of Arizona, and, in my experience, one of the premier establishments in the western United States. Highly recommended.

A bottle shop inside a brew pub with decent food. Ok in my book.

Good selection. The bottle selection in the coolers in back was impressive. The atmosphere was exactly as expected. A good thing. Good knowledge of what's on tap. Not that busy and service was weak. I don't need attention, but I want service. Maybe if you sit at the Bar they'll remember you're in the building. Pass on the beer bites appetizers.

Stopped in here after O.H.S.O. since they were so close together, I have had a few Papago beers before, I was really looking forward to checking them out. Atmosphere is kind of disjoined but still good. You have the front seating area, the bottle shop to the left, another dining area in a different room off to the left and then the bar area in the rear of the space. More and more people came in as my visit wore on, making it feel more together. Service was solid. I never had to wait for a beer and he was awesome to tall to. Selection was great. Five of their own beers on with a great verity of others crossing lots of different styles. As I had just eaten I skipped the food but the pizza looked great sitting a few people away from me. Prices were pretty good, some of the bottles to go were a little high but if I strike out in the next few weeks I may return to pick some up. Overall a really nice bar/brewery that I would definitely return to in the future, maybe even the near future.

I went there yesterday with a friend and hoping to get that Pilsner Urquell that came in a cast and was unfiltered and unpasteurized but I missed it by 1 1/2 hours. That was a drag! I know that I got there late but I was more upset that more friends wouldn't meet me there. I guess once is enough. I don't know, they have a lot of beers and several on tap but the service was bad. It was poor! I even went to the bar to see is it was self-service and a server said someone would be around. Someone did and five minutes later came back with our beers. She could have made it sooner but 4 1/2 minutes were spent talking at the bar after the beers were poured. She then couldn't remember what beers where which and had her nose practically in all of them and literally in one.

The atmosphere is that of an old bar. It is dark and fairly noisy. There are tales four, six, and more plus sitting at the bar. Several beers on tap. They say there is 30 but I think there were less. There are many bottled beers in there cooler and you could buy them to take home.

We only had beer and then left. The service, being so poor, would have taxed my patience waiting when I knew it was ready and had to wait for the server to deliver. I had been directed to enjoy the beers but to skip the food by some friends who had been there before.
