22 oz bottle poured into a snifter.
8.8% ABV, Drink before 3/30/14
A - Pouring slightly hazy, Nelson Showers is a beautiful golden colored beer that's topped with a loose white cap of foam that dots the glass in countless specks of lace.
S - Bright lemon oil citrus meets abundantly earthy notes of freshly cut lawn in the spring, flower pedals, and a kiss of dirty, pulled weeds which overlap the beer's uncomplicated base of caramel and honey drizzled biscuits.
T - Nelson Showers abandons much of the citrusy notes the aroma conjures up for a large earthy flavor that's very similar; big cut grass taste with sticky resin and slivers of dry cedar, finishing gently with white grape skin and lemongrass spice. Malt is much less a part of the flavor than the aroma leads on with dry, flaky biscuit and husky pale malt succumbing to the hops.
M - With a smooth malt base and crisp, clean drinkability, Nelson Sauvin has a sharp hop dryness and bitter kick, combining for an almost perfect finish that demands another sip, not punishes the tongue!
O - I can't say that I'm a huge fan of Nelson Sauvin flying solo; the overly earthy, grassy aroma and flavor they display when used on their own doesn't suit my tongue but, it's a fantastically brewed beer regardless of my personal preference. This Noble Ale Works offering brings the bitterness in full force, relative to the malt base and, at just under 9%, it's a crisp and clean drinking brew, packed full of flavor!

As the Gail storm calms, and the showers appear, it is Nelson that is left, it is Nelson that appears...
Just clean and smooth flavors. After the cap was popped, you could smell this bad boy a mile away like a pig on Krispy Kreme.
Nelson Showers is more angelic than Olivia Wilde getting wild.

22oz bottle from j47paco (thanks man!). Drink before 3/30/14 (I believe bottled 1/30/14). Served in a Cigar City teku.
Pours a hazy golden orange with two and a half fingers of fluffy, near-white head. The head lingers, maintaining a nice haze across the top and halo that leave plenty of lace.
Smells of earthy, floral, sweet berries and semi tropical citrus hops with some sweet biscuity malt. My description really does not do justice to how nice this aroma is.
Bittersweet berries, orange peel, grassy, pine, earthy petals, cracker, pepper, biscuit and a subtle nip of booze. Really intetesting hop notes.
Oily, resinous, medium body with fairly sharp carbonation. Bitter, earthy, berry and citrus rind aftertaste.
A nice case study in a hop that I was not very familiar with on it's own. A pleasant and unique experience. Delicious in it's own right and worth trying to see what Nelson Sauvin is all about.
