This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Simcoe is the fourth release in our double IPA series that showcases our favorite hop varieties, one by one, with each consecutive release. This hop was a game changer when it was released 14 years ago because of its bright layers of overripe pineapple, guava, and sage. Look forward to many upcoming releases within this series of single hopped double IPA's.

one of the beer guys at my local whole foods bars informed me last week that simcoe showers had arrived the day before, and i had no choice but to lay down my coin for this Noble Ale Works offering. Pale golden color with a thin white head, lighter carbonation, and some minor lacing across the glass. nose is redolent with pineapple, baked pear, and something herbal in the background. medium to full bodied, this solid ipa packs a punch at 8.8%, but the fresh hops balance the malts to avoid the cloying sweetness some inferior or expired doubles deliver. finish is dry. keep 'em coming.

It's Easter, so Raul is chilling with the Easter bunny and sippin' on some Simcoe - and Raul is ok with that. The tropical fruit element is present like Sofia Vegara's melons when she is lactating - yeah, things be wild. Pretty smooth with a lil bite of booze at the end.

It's slightly above ok like... I'll let you fill in the blank on this one, my children.

Reviewed from notes. Shared by Dan - thanks. Best by date of 5/26/2014.

A: Pours a clear golden color with a solid 1" white head which fades slowly and yields spotty lace.

N: Dank, weedy, grassy, and herbal notes.

T: Plenty of citrus fruit along with a catty note.

M: Moderate body and medium carbonation. Dry and bitter finish. A slight bit thin.

O: Was expecting more and done side-by-side with Duet, this couldn't hold a candle.

Thanks to mmikey8 for the hookup with this brilliant beer.

A thick, off-white head is displayed prominently atop a brassy, orange brew.

Piquant, earthy hops to the nose followed by some vanilla, bubblegum and caramel. Nicely mixed and hopefully prophetic of things to come.

The taste is a perfect mix of sweet and bitter. Beyond that I'm getting more notes of caramel, some herbs, orange zest, lemon and even butter. After a few sips, some astringency is noticed in the aftertaste.

Medium bodied and dry for the most part. There's a slight alcohol heat at the back of the throat.

A fine outing from Noble Ales that has fomented a hunt for more.

The newest beer in the Noble Showers series, Simcoe Showers presents itself as a clear corn/gold brew with a very small half finger head of white following a smooth pour. The retention while average coats the entire glass in a dense sheet of attractive lacing.

Solid orange citrus and pine gets a boost from some dank tropical mango, ripened banana and earthy herbs laying down a complex batch of hops. The malt is bready providing just enough sweetness to be unobtrusive to the nature of the hops. In this beer they are slightly acidic and stale with a tortilla chip and slight alcohol finishing aroma.

Bready malt is a bit stale and grainy but provides adequate sweetness to balance the Simcoe which proves itself to be a bittering and aroma hop style. Flavor is limited to orange peel with a steely pine and bright herbaceous flavor that ushers along the bitterness and finishing flavors. With a soapy and drying finish comes copious bitterness and a floral aftertaste laced with herbs. Alcohol has a middling presence.

Medium body and adequate carbonation. As said earlier, finish is soapy, clean and drying with sensible alcohol.

Limited to a single hop variety this version of 'Showers' flaunts Simcoe's abundance of aromas and clean finishing bitterness and drying while attempting to play off the lack of flavor with a early entering, clean finish. Noble really has the single hop DIPA down to a science but at this point, I wish Noble would shake things up with another multi-hop beer like Tongue Tickles (or a high hype hop like a Mosaic or Galaxy Showers) before continuing on their single hop tangent.

Poured 22oz bomber best by 5/26/14 into New Belgium globe

A-Pours a clear gold color with a nice soapy head. Great lacing!

S-Aroma is danky hops with some citrucy notes.

T-Taste follows the aroma with a barnyard danky hop character and a slight grapefruit note. Slight spice note as well. Lingering hop bitterness on the backend.

M-Medium mouthfeel and well balanced. Great carbonation.

O-Overall awesome DIPA with simcoe hops!

Bomber to snifter, enjoy by 5/26/14

Pours a vibrant golden orange, very clear with pretty strong carbonation. A finger of foam has died down pretty quickly, the lacing on this though is pretty solid

Could smell the hops as soon as I opened the bottle. As expected, strong upfront simcoe. Heavy pine and grapefruit, very rich and similar to my cats litterbox. Very strong and sweet caramel malts compose a rugged backbone along with a nice hint of alcohol

Taste is pretty close with the nose, strong pine and grapefruit along with other rich tropical fruits. Again very sweet with the malts, much more of an alcohol presence

Very bitter, stick, with a dry finish. Alcohol is present which makes it fun

Overall reminds me why simcoe is one of my favorite hops. Solid beer, also reminds me why I need to get more into trading
