Light in body with the beautiful golden straw color that is a hallmark of the genre, Pontchartrain Pilsner's thoughtfully crafted blend of German Northern Brewer, Hallertauer Perle and Spalter hops imbue it with a wonderful mellow aroma, complemented by a smooth, lightly hopped finish.

L- a light golden straw color with very little head and a slight haze
S-very sweet aroma with hops coming thru in the background
T-not as sweet as the smell but some is there, and the hops still comes thru. It has a smooth aftertaste that leaves the mouth clean
F-light body and medium carbonation
O-light hop taste with very little aftertaste, would be great on a hot summer day

Covington Pontchartrain Pilsner
12 oz. brown glass bottle

Unfortunately Covington's Pilsner is a fairly average craft brew that could probably be confused for a blonde ale. It looks alright, but not great, and it just doesn't have a pilsner aroma. I find neither pilsner malt nor noble hops. In the aroma it's slightly floral and slightly grassy/lemony but the malt doesn't shine. In fact, as the flavor reveals more fully, the malt is fairly dull, and a bit too sweet. Had it been labeled differently I'd certainly give it a higher recommendation, but as a pilsner (Czech, German, or other) it lacks finesse and balance. Otherwise, basic and drinkable (especially cold) but unremarkable.

Served from the tap in a shaker pint glass.

Pale yellow color, brilliantly clear with bright white head. Mild pale malt aroma and taste, with just minimal earthy hops. Light body, medium carbonation.
