Pours pale straw with loose white head that disappears completely. Bright grassy nose with maybe some red apple. Fresh pear and golden syrup malts backed by pungent spicy hops, a touch of herbal spearmint, and some pure chalk bitterness. Finishes dry with a sweet return. Lively, light to medium, some cling.

Filed under the wrong style, and unfairly maligned below. This is meant to be the "continental"/German Pilsener in PH's lineup, and it does quite well in that job with up front noble hops.

Then again, maybe it's just much better in bottles.

Light tasting, easy drinking, sort of German style lager, nothing special. I beat you can't guess what hops they put in it? Anyway, it wasn't too bad some light floral, softly grassy hops, nothing offensive, but unexciting, am i a harsh rater? i dunno.

Had on tap at the Porterhouose in Dublin.

A - Pours a light gold w/ a one finger head. Looks fairly typical for this type of beer.

S - smells like cereal grains with some malt sweetness. Again, typical of the style.

T - not a ton of flavor, but ok. Malt/grain along w/ a bit of hop bite.

M - medium bodied, nice carbonation pop to it.

D - overall, nothing terribly impressive. When I got to the bottom of the glass, I wasn't too crazy about it.

On-tap at Porterhouse Central, Dublin, Ireland

A: The beer is clear deep yellow in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short bright white head that died down and left a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of bready malts are present in the nose along with faint hints of floral hops.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of bready malts along with a light to moderate amount of hop bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This pilsener is quite easy to drink and has a good balance between the malts and the hops.

Described as a Pilsner at the Porterhouse in Temple Bar, but on here it sounds more on target...

Pours light brown, no head, moderate carbonation. Mild hoppy nose with some wheatiness. Clean, slightly bitter hops taste, not very pilsy. Easy drinking beer, but not really a good pilsner, is definitely more of a Euro lager.

On draught at the Porterhouse temple bar. Served into a pint glass.

A: One finger head of fair cream and poor retention, but decent thickness. Transparent copper colour.

Sm: Malted barley. A very light aroma.

T: Malt, hops. A body built strangely for the style. Nice cream on the finish, joined by a pleasant sort of bitterness. Nutty body. Some vanilla, some caramel. Balanced well for the style.

Mf: Nicely smooth and coarse.

Dr: Pricey but good. 4.50 Euro is too steep, but not bad for Dublin prices.

Served in a pint glass at the brewpub in Dublin.

A: Unpleasantly pale, light yellow. Transparent with lots of bubbles and a thin head.

S: Smells like an adjunct lager, despite claims to the contrary. Very grainy and corn-sweet.

T: Very sweet -- lagery indeed -- but not as bad as I expected. Though purported to be a pilsner, it certainly doesn't taste like one (I think the Euro Pale Lager classification much more appropriate). Hersbrucker is not as floral, bitter, or complex as I would have liked, though there is some perceived spiciness in the foretaste (this may just be carbonation) before the over-sweet maintaste of malted grain slams in. The aftertaste is clean but grainy.

M: Lots of carbonation saves the mouthfeel. It feels nice.

D: Drinkable -- maybe -- but I don't like it. Not recommended.

Grain -- Lager and Cara malt
Hops -- Galena, Nugget, Hersbrucker

Full yellow colour, with a foam scarcely persistant, not even compact...
Smell: nothing particular, just some herbaceous hop, fresh.
The taste has the hop in evidence, but with a note of sweet (malt).
A very strong bitter in the aftertaste, with a medium body.
After a while, in the smell you can fell some orange-citron hints.

Tasted by half-pint on tap at the London Covent Garden branch of the Porterhouse pub.

A: dark golden colour, a thin but foamy head and gently carbonated--looking healthy.
S: ashy/dusty and resinous hoppy smell piercing through the foamy cap, on top of a very light malty backbone; as it warms up a more assertive green-apple-ish and lightly strawberry fruity aroma from the hops expands. Very straight forward and mild.
T: refreshingly bitter-sweet and lightly spicy hops rest on a bed of toasted maltiness; lingering hops in the aftertaste, turing increasingly bitter until the end.
M&D: right carbonation condition for a light-bodied and hoppy lager. The pretty dry ending touch makes it a good thirst-quencher, but nothing more interesting than that.
