Had this at the Porterhouse in Temple Street

This guys really like their creamy foam, not a big suprise with all the Guinesse going around in the town...
Not the biggest of porters, and it feels unbalanced, like a coffee mocca with water.
And that is not a compliment

Compared to the two other beers I tried at The Porterhouse (the Oyster Stout and Hop Head), this beer was very bland and just didn't have any character. I guess that's why they call it "plain". I'm a dark ale fan, but this Porter just wasn't cutting it for me. Thankfully the other two beers I tried were incredible.

Double gold medal winning stout, so should be good.
Almost pitch black pour in a Guinness pint, with some shades of brown. One finger tan head to a fine lacing.
Nice roasted malts in the smell, ground coffee, faint dark chocolate and dark bread.
Hmm. Sweet oatmeal-like maltiness, going to roasted malts, faint caramel, then big strong coffee notes. Zesty fruitiness in the back, rather refreshing. A weird and nice contrast between "heavy" malt and light crisp fruit, makes it really enjoyable. Hoppy finish, dry and bitter.
Perfect (!) mouthfeel, fluffy, creamy, might be the smoothest stout i've ever tried. Aftertaste is mainly of burnt grains, some woodiness and aromatic hops.
A perfect stout, add some great hops, and you get a great beer. Quite a surprise. Somewhere between a porter and an Irish stout, but its body sets the style.

The colour is almost black (90 EBC), the liquid is clear. The two finger head is pale brown and compact. It sinks slowly leaving almost no lacing.

The smell is malty and roasted. It is smooth without any harshness. Malt sourness, dark chocolate and a touch of black coffee. Quite a lot of biscuits, hints of dough, tobacco smoke and flowers.

The taste is dry and bitter with coffee and chocolate. Clean bitterness and a touch of toffee. Medium body. Some alcohol in the aftertaste, as well as floral/herbal flavours, and growing bitterness. Creamy coffee notes in the finish.

The carbonation is mid-strong, the large bubbles fresh. The liquid is dry and quite light.

A nice stout with enough depth too keep it interesting, and not too heavy to drink.

Poured from a peel pressure-cap 11.2 oz bottle into a pint glass in high elevation Kalispell, Mont. Reviewed live.

A- One and a half finger khaki head with minute-long retention. Mahogany color with some light permeating. Some slight

S- Roasty dry smell, chocolate, toffee.

T- Dry, roasted flavor. Coffee and mocha.

M- Very dry feel. That's a porter alright.

O- Not much to say about this beer. It's better than average.
