Dark brown with a distinct red tint. Abundance of light beige foam in the Einbecker Pils glass. Quite frothy in the mouth. Aroma of nutty rice.
Pleasantly malty black lager with a little more sweetness than many Schwarzbiers. Clean roasted malt flavor with just a touch of woodiness. A hint of cocoa and blackened grain. Very drinkable and a good American version of the style. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Ale Spike in Stanwood, Wash.

Bottle from Berts Growler Garage. Reminiscent of a slightly watered down version of Kostritzer. Almost black pour, bits of light around the glass reveal it as a very, very dark brown. Head dissipates quickly, but carbonation remains very active. Aroma is equal parts roast grain and sweet malts. Taste is more of the same, with some minor toast grain bitterness tempering the whole. Bitterness lingers on the tongue for a while. For the most part, this one is right in the wheelhouse.
