Look: Pitch black in the glass and on the pour, which generates a light brown head to form and slowly settle to a film, coating the rim with lacing
Aroma: Roasted barley, chocolate, brown bread, wafts of roasted coffee beans, and light earthy notes
Taste: Opens with some roast and earthiness that hold for a moment before rich chocolate enters the picture and mixes in. Warm brown bread picks up in the middle and shines briefly before roast, earthy notes, and chocolate return to close it out
Mouthfeel: Full, smooth, clean, medium-high carbonation, and lightly robust on the finish
Overall: This is some good stuff. I couldn’t believe I’d never rated this as it’s one of my favorite beer from these folks and one I buy and drink every fall/winter, so I was on a mission to do so – for science. A tasty and well-made Porter that checks all the style boxes, has a nice chocolate presence, and although smooth drinking, finishes on the bold side, which I dig, plus it has a cool name. Delicious and recommended

really nice porter here, nuanced and less basic than many in this style space, robust but also nice and drinkable, ideal beer for early winter here, cant believe it took me this long to finally try this one. close to black but without much apparent viscosity and a fast fading fizzy mocha layer of bubbles. the nose is deeply roasty, black coffee and good espresso both, earthy and warming, with more of a nutty and toasted than sweet and caramelized middle malt profile, hearty without being heavy in the least, faint raisin, smoke, and soil character too. the flavor is awesome, subtle molasses, cola, dark chocolate, and cold brew coffee through it, lots of roast and nice bitterness, but again quite light, almost more brown ale than porter in texture, but the flavor is big and sturdy, definitely wintery. i like the lightness of body with all this flavor, and i like the linger. there is a mellow yeast thing in here that is also unifying and flattering to the grain build, could also be just a hint of rye spice, this has subtle complexity and uniqueness, endearing to my palate. chocolate on the swallow, just a little residual sweetness but on the dry side overall, and smooth in texture. solid porter overall, unique to me in this space, and i think a bit underrated overall here on BA. one of their best regular beers.

Taster at Boise Winter Ale fest. Dark brown pour, ring of bubbly beige head. Roasty aroma, light chocolate and coffee notes. Taste starts with roasty bitterness, light sweet chocolate flavors trailing. pretty much standard for the style.

Very nice of them to name a beer for me. 12oz can poured into 14oz teku. poured a solid black color over an inch of light brown head that had moderate retention and no lacing.
The expected roast notes were at the front of the scent, with some base grains behind.
Pretty similar on the tongue; mostly roast, some grain, a slight hint of earthy hops.
The body was a bit thinner than I prefer in the style, was smooth, and had a medium finish.
Drinkability was fine, no real issues, but I also wasn't left wanting another.
Overall, a solid beer, not in the same class as Black Butte, but still enjoyable enough.

Mouthfeel I medium with good carbonation. Finish is mildly dry and balanced. Creamy and smooth.
Overall a tasty easy drinking Porter.

This beer pours smooth, dark brown, almost black out of the bottle. It looks rich, especially as the tightly formed dark tan bubbles cap the liquid below. Like Terry Porter himself, it sticks to the glass like glue, and it's everywhere.
Heavily toasted bread, coffee, molasses, and brown sugar entice the senses. No joke, my mouth waters when I smell this beer.
The flavor is a bit blurry. A good dose of dark chocolate, a hint of coffee, and toasted bread are present, and it's finalized with a combination of cola, a bit if berries, and metallic notes.
Slick, slightly creamy, bold, balanced, and wonderful are what comes to mind for the texture if this beer. It's a bit foamy and somehow manages to finish quite dry.
Is this a 3 point buzzer beater from half court to win the game? Perhaps not, but it's a wonderfully entertaining slam dunk of a porter. My only regret is not reaching for this sooner. Pick it up. Cheers.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass, with a half finger coffee colored head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt with a hint of char, chocolate, light vanilla and coffee. Flavor follows with mildly charry dark toasted malt, coffee, bitter chocolate, slight vanilla, flavor thins out a bit in the finish leaving smoky dark malt and coffee taste. Medium bodied with slight creaminess. A nice, well toasted malt porter with good light smokiness, chocolate and coffee flavors. The finish is a little thin, leaving the burnt coffee and malt exposed, but with pleasant lingering toasted malt. A good porter and a good cause.

A beer brewed by legendary Portland Trailblazer basketball player with proceeds from each bottle going toward charity. Sounds like a novel idea, but the catch is that the beer is very good. A nice deep roasted malt, slightly smokey, and a dry finish.
