My wife and I planned a nice weekend trip and we basically planned it around going to this particular beer shop. We came from Kaiserslautern, which is about 2-2.5 hours away from this place. This review is not meant to bash the place, but to inform anyone expecting a huge warehouse with close to 3000 beers for sale.

Let's start with the good stuff. The owner was an older gentleman and he was as friendly as they come. He was very welcoming and was eager to sell us beer 'similar' to the ones we were looking for.

Now, the not-so-good stuff. The shop was a very small corner store and had nowhere near 3000 beers. I would say between 200 and 300 beers and that's a stretch. After asking the gentleman if he offered Trappist beers, he pointed me to a couple bottles of Leffe. In my opinion, if you are the owner of a specialty beer shop, you should know a little bit about the beer that you are selling. The final thing I would like to point out is the price for the beer on hand. As an example, one bottle of Bulmer's Pear was a whopping 6.95 Euro! The prices for the easy to find, everyday beers was quite steep.

If you plan on driving to see this place, make sure you don't live too far away. I wouldn't recommend traveling more than a half hour to see this place. Also, keep in mind that you will be paying top dollar for the beer you pick up.

Popped over to here while staying in Valkenburg, Holland, during October 2012.

I had a list of German beers I wanted and having read somewhere they stocked over 3,000 different bottles I went with high expectations.

The actual place isn't the huge warehouse I thought, but a small corner shop (yes, I know Ecke means corner in German, but, well, I guessed wrong). Outside is a large display of crates and bottles, inside many more bottles and glasses are on show, the joint is jam packed with beers (in no real order of style, region or brewery even). 300 Different beers max I'd say.

The guy is very friendly enough and we found a couple of the beers I wanted, then I changed tack and just grabbed stuff I knew I hadn't had before. My german is basic but OK, his English poorer than my German, so we spoke in his language: 16 Bottles later and 2 freely given metal advertising boards, I signed his visitors book. The guy is fine, his 'Jack Russell' a nasty piece of work!

Glad I drove across to use the shop, the international selection was all the usual suspects, which was a bit of a disappointment, but he has loads of German beers you'll never have heard of, or seen before, even if you are German and a beer geek.

Everytime I am in Aachen I try to make a side trip to Würselen, about 10-15minutes on bus number 21. Get off at Würselen Rathaus, take the first right, about 5meteres from the stop on Lindenstr, about 200m down on the right side you will find Bier und Weinbrandecke.

Very small shop, with an insane selection of beers from all over the world. They claim to have close to 3,000 beers from over 60 countries (at one point they had the guinness record for beer selection).
While they do have some beers from the US and from around the world, they specialize in German beers, which is wonderful. (distribution in Germany is awful, it is very regional)
They have beers from just about every corner of Germany, a wonderful selection of beers from small breweries.

The proprietor is extremely friendly and very helpful.
The prices are a bit more than if you found the beer near the brewery, but this is to be expected. You can get most beers for around 1€-2€.
