Hit up Growler's while on a HHI vacation.
Excellent bottle selection, with everything ranging from a wide variety of Belgian imports to beers from The Bruery, Cascade, Bell's, Terrapin, RJ Rockers, Dogfish Head one-off's, and more. Could spend lots of time in this store, and the layout is spacious and accommodating.
Wasn't much service when I was there, as the lady behind the counter seemed preoccupied with whatever she was doing (store was nearly empty), but she did hit us up with a free Growler's pint glass and koozie upon checking out with $70+ worth of craft beer [EDIT: via BM, I was told she was working on updating their tap list]. I also liked the fact that they have a large selection of on-tap selections at the back of the store and (as the namesake would imply) plenty of growlers to fill in 32, 64, and 128 (!) ounce sizes.
Prices are reasonable, but a little on the high side. Still, a place that's definitely worth checking out as it has the best bottle selection on the island--by far.

NO LONGER IN BUSINESS!
Great little beer store with a fantastic growler-fill selection. Here's what I had to pick from over this past weekend:
Tap 1. Pirate's Pilsner
Tap 1.2 Red Hare Rabbits Reserve Rauch Bier
Tap 1.3 Westbrook Marzenbier
Tap 1.4 PALM
Tap 1.5 Sam Adams Fat Jack
Tap 1.6 Allagash White
Tap 1.7 Rouge Beard Beer
Tap 1.8 Sierra Neveda Beer Camp Black IPA
Tap 2.1 Allagash Hugh Malone
Tap 2.2 Westbrook Citrus Ninja Exchange
Tap 2.3 Stone Enjoy By 11/12/13
Tap 2.4 Green Flash Green Bullet
Tap 2.5 Sierra Nevada Narwhal
Tap 2.6 COAST Boy King
Tap 2.7 New Belguim L.O.F. Imperial Coffee Stout
Tap 2.8 Great Divide Yeti
I'm from the Charlotte, NC, area - I'd never had access to Allagash Hugh Malone on draft. I also scored growlers of Citrus Ninja Exchange, which I'd only had in a bottle prior - COAST's Boy King, which I kept sealed and brought back home to share with some buds - and a small growler of Yeti. I refilled the Citrus Ninja Exchange the next day for some Narwhal.
I read a review a moment ago that questioned the service, man - that's the exact opposite of what I experienced. The service was as good as it gets - I was given a sample of everything I asked for - and then some. The guys knew their stuff and it was a blast talking brewing with them.
The bottle shop portion of the store was good too - lots of stuff I can't find in NC.
They also sell homebrewing supplies - how cool is that?
If you're on the island - this is a must stop spot.

Stopped in on my trip to HHI after reading reviews and getting feedback on the regional forum.
Selection: Decent selection in bottles and cans with quite a few regional brews (Love Westbrook!) Draft selections on that day were great too. Note for freshness geeks - I would watch out for some of the dated IPA and annuals that are still on the shelf.
Quality - As stated Great Draft selections and the regional IPA's I bought were only a few weeks to a month old at the latest.
Service - Maybe the guy working was having a bad day or I said something that rubbed him the wrong way (I've been known to do that) but he was grumpy and only cared about his opinion. Also after sampling the "Enjoy by" and purchasing a growler, I asked for a second sample of something else (believe it was River Dog) that I was also interested in purchasing and was told I'd have to come back for their 4PM tasting??? Never had that happen before at a growler fill store. I paid and left.
Value - Prices seemed odd to me and had a range from GREAT deal to overpriced. My growler of "Enjoy by" was super cheap compared to two other placesI've bought it since and the 6 pack of Westbrook IPA cans came in at $12 (2nd plug for Westbrook). On the overpriced end, some of the stuff on the shelf especially the bombers were 20% more than I'm used to paying.
Overall - As others have stated and as far as I could tell this is your only option for packaged craft beer on the island so take it or leave it. I'll definitely stop back in for some Westbrook offerings (3rd plug) and hopefully a few growlers if I can sample AND then buy.

We stopped by Growlers when we were leaving Hilton Head and Beer Advocate didn't let us down.
Atmosphere - Nice, clean store. Lots of selection and well laid out.
Quality - Good selection with a lot of top notch brews. Some had BA scores listed.
Service - Excellent service. My wife and I talked to one of the guys for 15-20 minutes. Very attentive to what our preferred style was and what they had. They even recommended brews to get in Savannah where we were staying.
Selection - Good selection of West Coast IPAs (our favorite). Had big Belgium sections if you are into that style. Good selection of regional brews too. Good selection of draft for growler fills.
Value - they are on an island, so a slight premium is required. I don't think you could find anything better in that area either.
Overall - This is a great craft brew store with knowledgable staff. They even have home brew supplies which is pretty cool.

Reading the reviews on here I figured I should stop at Growlers at least one time on my trip. Well let's just say I was expecting a lot more. The selection was decent but a lot of the beer was available in my home state of Ohio. It was nice to see some Foothills, Coast and Allagash but most of their beer was in big bottles and the cost wasn't friendly. 18.99 for a double ipa from foothills????
I grabbed some Terrapin Wake and Bake then asked the guy behind counter which canned IPA I should get. He recommended getting the Caldera IPA over some other beers they had. I came home and opened one up to find that it was less than mediocre but cost me over 12 dollars.
Overall I would say stop here if you are on the island but don't expect a lot. They probably have the best selection on the island but you probably have a better beer store right down the road.

So I'm visiting Hilton head island with some friends on our spring break (senior year) and we happened to find this joint after grabbing some liquor next door. (By the way, my favorite liquor store on the island, they gave us 2 huge cans of pineapple juice for free). Anyway, I walked in and saw various empty rare beers along with a great selection of locals and seasonals. I tried my luck after having a long conversation with the shopkeeper about oak aged old guardian and I'm glad I did. Sexual chocolate. In the back. I was through the roof! Three minute conversation and I'm in the secret stash! Great looking shop, knowledgeable people working there and a good selection. Try this when you get here, get to know the people, know what to ask for based on what is out. Cheers!

EDIT-- after spending an hour or two driving around and hitting up any other store I could find on the island, my rating has increased for Growlers. This is the best place to grab beer on HHI.
We are staying at Fiddler's Cove condo complex, and being our first night here we had to do some grocery shopping...
Well what better place to shop than a Piggly Wiggly that happens to have a beer store in the same plaza?!
It's a pretty big place with shelves lining both sides and the growler station at the back. 4 different sized growlers and a surprisingly decent variety of tap handles. Pilsners to pale ales to imperial pumpkins and imperial stouts.
I grabbed a 1/4 gallon flip top growler filled with Aviation HogWild IPA. The fill was solid- lots of places fill the growler with beer all the way to the top, but I've long been under the impression that leaving a little headspace is better. Not quite sure why, but this beer was quite delicious and I had no issues.
The bottle selection was good-- lots of stuff I expected to see and some smaller local brews I hadn't even heard of.
Very small number of imports.
I grabbed a bottle of Riserva but the employee was unable to tell me if they were batch 1 or batch 3... Oh well.
Bottom line-- I'll be stopping here again before I leave... Probably get another growler filled again.
