This is a must stop place for any visitors to Boston. The beer selection here is very Belgian focused but its so good. The food is on par with the beer, every time I have eaten here it has been really good. The prices are a little steep but not ridiculous. I highly recommend the mussels and frites because they have many different kinds you can get. This place can get really crowded at night and tends to have a younger crowd being so close to the colleges. Provisions is a bottle shop just down the street so make sure you stop in there too when you visit the Publick House.

So my friends and I stopped here after a bar-jumping experience last weekend in Boston. Let's set the stage... All three of us are experienced beercationers who travel and pursue beer to the extreme. 2 from Baltimore and me from Mpls, so you know we know good beer and service.
This place did not have good service. I noticed the Heady Topper sign out front, bolted into the wall. So, you can imagine my surprise when I was met with denial when I asked for one. When mentioned the sign, the waitress told me they have a Guinness sign too, but didn't carry that beer. The problem was, she was so condiscending and rude that it put me off. We ordered 2 beers from the beer menu, and the waitress looked at the chalkboard and said they didn't have it. But when I pointed out that it was on the actual menu, she backtracked and attempted to spin it that either the menu or the chalkboard was wrong.
Problem is, I am the customer and how am I to know which one was correct. I have experienced rudeness at Chicago's Map Room, to the point I will never, ever go back to this pretentious and elitiest bar and The Publick House is absolutely no difference.
Boston has enough great beer bars, this one, along with it's shitty service, can easily be forgotten.
