On tap at the brewpub. Bang on the style, with lots of roast, a tad of smoke, some cocoa and lots of Cascadian tasting hops; resiny hops. Very drinkable. Nice, happy. Black, lacey. Middle mouthfeel, tingling the palate. A style I like and it was done well.

Appearance: Pours a nearly black body with a bubbly, sudsy, tan-hued head.
Smell: Smells of chipped roast, candied bread crusts with a hint of caramel ahead of the compliant hop character giving small bits of citrus and florals.
Taste: A taste of toasted bread with table sugar scabs and reasonably roasty with low hints of cocoa and caramel. Very faint, very low dark fruitiness. Mild traces of lemon, some rather gentle florals. Medium bitterness at best. Drying, bitter-sweet finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: It's OK. Sterner hopheads will feel hoodwinked out of the purported "over the top hoppy bitterness."

Enjoyed with a nice all meat pizza at Brewers. I love this brew pub, and the pizza is the shiz. Came in a nice 16 ounce pint glass.
A: Dark as a ninja during a lunar eclipse. Slight halo of creamy brown head with limited lacing.
S: Smells of soft roasted malts and the wet garden smell of a wildflower floral bouquet.
T: Very smooth taste with medium bitterness. Grapefruit and dark sugar flavors present. Was expecting it to be over-the-top on IBU's and was pleasantly surprised. No ester/phenol/fossil fuels. Was expecting more roasted malt presence. Possible they used beet sugar in this one?
M: Smooth and cold. Micro carbonated, goes down easy. Not alcoholic. "Wet" mouth feel from beginning to finish.
O: Overall, a great dark beer. Has plenty of character for hop heads without killing your taste buds.

A: Quarter finger head, nice lacing. Very black.
S: A pungent hop aroma with subtle citrus and grapefruit notes with brown sugar mixed in.
T: nice hop character up front with finishing sweet chocolate and toffee which stifles the typical bitter finish.
M: smooth and medium bodied. The sweetness of the malt blends very well with the bitter hops.
Overall: a complex and well made brew from a relatively new yet already refined brewpub.
