A very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Extensive bottle list and large number of tap beers. Had several Mikkeller selections and local as well. The menu was that of upscLe pub food. The wild game burger (venison) was very good. I don`t know if all beer is expensive in Sweden but the beers here were pricey. I tried a local IPA, Woopdidoo, from Beerbliotek which was very good as well as It's Alive from Mikkeller. This place is definitely worth visiting

This is owned by the same people that own the Rover, and between the two these are the best beer focused locations in Goteburg.
The Rover is smaller, more pub like, while the olrepubliken is larger and has more selection. The bar is very aware of the Swedish micro scene and is extremely knowledgeable of everything they have on tap,
Their are about 10-15 taps, all micro and local with a wide ranging bottle selection from across the globe including US micros. The best beers I had were from Mohawk which is the most adventurous Swedish micro per the bartender. Super IPA and an interesting hoppy lager.
Extremely friendly, learned a lot about each beer, and was given several samples from taps. Highly recommend.

Went here on my last night in town with the guys I was working with all week since they knew I liked to try different types of beer. We started off with 2 different local beers they had on tap. Then we split directions, them trying other beers that I already tried and me trying ones from around the world that I didn't try yet. They had over 30 beers on tap and the bottled list was several pages of normal type long. The wait staff was quick with the refills and knew English as well as Swedish. When asked for a specific style they showed several of that style both in the tap list and bottle list.
We also ate there and they had typical Pub Grub food. The other guys all got burgers and I got what I was told was a "Wild Game" patty. Over all the food was tasty and the beer selection was wonderful.

Entering into one large room, with 6 meters to the sealing, a quite large volume hits you. Many tables and most of them with people in them (which is a good sign).
Walking to the bar, a loooong bar desk with pumps all the way. I would guess there is 20+ pumps here.
I was interested in their assortment of IPA and started out ordering a "Drakens DIPA", but it was just sold out. They recommended me "dragets kanals dipa" or "Titan IPA" instead. The suggestions and descriptions of them, insured me that they knew their stuff.
Their great list of bottled beer is truly impressive (400+ according to them). We settled down, grabbing their menu. The prices seemed great. I ordered a large burger. For meet lovers, this is the choice! Together with coleslaw, this was a great dinner!
One of the bartenders was circling in the room, approached us and asked about the food, and we thanked and gave our compliments to the chefs, and continued asking about their bottled assortment. The bartender recommended us a Snake dog IPA, which i know to be a great beer, so we accepted.
Clean toilets, good people and friendly staff - AND great beer. You will always find something interesting to enjoy here.
This is a beer lovers paradise, and a must visit when in Gothenburg.
