1 liter flip top bottle was poured into a mug.

Appearance: A one finger head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a copper color with great clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Spotty lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Doughy, caramel, nutty, grassy, earthy, and mineral.

Taste: Same as above. You get some bitterness in the rear too.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied, a little chewy, slight bitterness, and medium carbonation.

Overall: A nice doppelbock with a bit more bitterness than I would like. I still enjoyed the whole liter.

This beer put a hurtin' on me. Very light for this style and not very charismatic. Poured very similarly to lager characteristics, very little head retention, boring pale yellow color. It is a very strong beer 7.5%, considering what it's lacking make you think SESSION beer. Great name- does the job. Cool bar as well.

This was an excellent drink to start the evening. It had a dark reddish-amber appearance with practically no head. The smell was a bit lacking with very faint malts and other thinned out aromas. The taste however was much different from the smell: strong malts and a wicked sweet punch to it. The beverage had a good, solid medium body. Overall, another great drink from ABC.

Purchased at the brewpub, and was presented in a cobalt blue glass 1/2 growler with a swing-top lid.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1" creamy off-white over the clear copper brew. Light aroma of caramel malts with a slight crisp hoppiness. Color and aroma almost make me think this more a bock than dbock, time will tell... Flavor is nicely of lightly sweet caramel malt with a somewhat balancing hops character. Again, still lacking in the dbock attributes, I think. Mouthfeel is extra creamy, even if the body seems a bit light, and drinkability is excellent. An enjoyable brew, and I have reviewed it on its merits, not to any sort of stylistic ideal, even though I have kept those things in mind.

This was my first beer on a recent visit to the pub. The beer arrives in an 8 oz mug and exudes a clear chestnut color with amber highlights, making the beer slightly lighter in color.
A thin off white edge layer of creamy head rests on the beer's surface. Aroma is sweet caramel and toffee with just a bit of herbal hops coming through as well. The first sip reveals an average body with just a bit of syrupyness to the texture. Carbonation is very soft.
Flavor is slightly nutty with a bit of almond but is then dominated by caramel and toffee and finishes fairly roasty. I get a hint of the herbal hops in the background and there is a bit of the hops lingering after each sip.
The beer is very clean and easy to drink. I enjoy this brew a lot and am glad to have tried it. No hint of ABV anywhere.

this beer arrived with a tiny head, looking all light brown and orange with sparkling highlights. appeared lighter and thinner than i am used to with my hooker habit.

very little odor on this beer. notes of sourness and roasted hops are noticeable to the trained sleuth.

the taste is suprisingly overpowering with maltiness and nuttiness. nothing too adventurous for the doppel style. hops are pretty undetectable in the flavor, which is a shame. a slight bitterness would help this beer immensely. the sour in the smell carries over to the taste and cries out for something to balance it.

very drinkable still, just painfully average for a beer of such a 'hot, hip' style. imho.

I was excited to see a doppelbock at ABC. For me, however, I was a bit disappointed.

Pours dark orange, transculent brownish with no head. I think the tap was not pumping in the carbonation correctly or something. No lacing, pretty flat. Light nose with slight sweetness and hops. Taste was overly light, not enough here for a doppelbock. Was more like a mediocre steam beer. Wasn't feeling this one. Flat and blah. But, again, it might have been a tap issue.
