On cask at ABC. Pours opaque black/brown with a thick light brown head. Nice lacing. Smells very dark and roasty, with plenty of chocolate. Very faint brown sugar. Tastes strongly of roasted malt and chocolate. Surprising bitterness gives it a dry finish. A bit astringent. Fantastic, full body with a very creamy feel--pretty impressive. Drinks well for what it is; imperial stout flavor in a low(er) gravity beer.

Pours out of the growler pitch black with a tiny, quarter finger head even on a violent pour. The tiny head is at least pretty dark tan and reminds me of a nice stout. A bit of lacing is left on my glass as I drink through this one. Smells and tastes of nice roasted malts. There is a ton of cocoa in the taste, the prominent characteristic by far. Besides that it is just lots of pale malts, chocolate malt and a bit of earthy hops in the taste. The chocolate is a little bit too much but the malt profile is definitely good. The overall strength of the nose is a bit weak. The taste is pretty well balanced for a stout but the oatmeal seems to be lacking. Mouthfeel is pretty appropriate in carbonation and body for a 6% stout, medium in both categories. There is really no alcohol warming and I wouldn't really expect it from this beer. The huge cocoa brings the DB down a bit, I get sick of it after a while. The price was not bad and the quality of this beer is definitely pretty good. I will be trying more of the ABC beers in the future.
