Picked this up in Totowa yesterday, having never heard of this before and knowing nothing about Kind Beers at all. Even though this was listed as 7.30% ABV on here, the package said that this was at 6.0% and in addition, the label wasn't anything like the one pictured on here. A check of the website revealed that it's currently not up and running as well, so this still remained a mystery to me. With so many APA's out there, I was hoping that this would have stood out a bit more. If they were going for a muted, woodsy take on this style, then they hit the nail on the head with this one!

The pour to this was relatively basic, with a copper hue, moderate head, and lacing that could only be seen after the first few sips that I took of this. Not much of a hop presence to this and what was detectable had a somewhat earthy feel to it. The consistency was closer to one of the Innis and Gunn beers, as this was smooth, hardly carbonated, and felt like pine. Quite a bit of oil as well as this went down with a considerable amount of slickness, and it was only once this settled on my tongue that I could feel a slight hop burn, before it faded away toward a slightly more resinous feel.

I could hardly feel the booze in here either and the only lingering notes that stuck with me were those of leather and a slight earthy hoppiness. This wouldn't win any awards with anyone but for a slightly different take on a common style, this would suffice if you were stuck out in the woods and needed something to help out with getting away from it all!
