In May of 2014, our friend and mentor Anders Kissmeyer of Kissmeyer Beer & Brewing visited Hill Farmstead Brewery, along with our dear friend Will Meyers of Cambridge Brewing Co., to brew a special collaborative beer. Inspired by our guests and their journeys, this beer was brewed with the resourcefulness and inventiveness of the Nordic tradition, as well as the creative spirit of its three architects. Farmstead ale brewed with honey, heather, rose hips, rhubarb and wheat.

Pours a bright golden color with good clarity. Head didn't last long, but the effervescence of the beer is clear based on the omnipresent self-replenishing cap and thick ring. Aroma is fantastic. Plenty of floral notes, along with honey and funk combine to make this very appealing on the nose if you are a fan of the style (as I most definitely am)
The honey is a little more prominent on the tongue, and the floral notes a little less so. Rhubarb mixes in to add some life to the party. Tart, but not overly so. Very light and well carbonated.
Overall, very good beer.

The fruit is a sour, tartness in the background. The super soft water profile in HF isn't super obvious in this one somehow. Not really a "saison" per se but it's an excellent New England farmhouse type of beer done in the HF way.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a crystal clear honey with thin head.
S - Aromas of nice funky saison yeast.
T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of sweeter funk. Finish is almost plastic or bandaid though.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, little creamy and crisp.

Just an overall great beer. Great balance of sour and dankness, or farmhouse as they would say. Some good pear and rhubarb flavors. I’d sum this up as rustic.
